The Sach`s saga = day eight billion and three Smile

I think this little beastie is ready for an MOT? possibly? maybe? hopefully?.
Last Thursday I was giving it the once over and I forgot to put the sidestand down when I got off it Evil or Very Mad , once I picked it up off the floor, I found that I had wrecked the handle-bars Twisted Evil

So while I was changing them for an old spare pair that I had tucked in the garage, I thought about adding a switch to the pilot light so I can turn it (the pilot light) off when the engine is not running but the key is in the ignition.
So I made a break in the wires and ran a switch from the handle-bars to the break.
It appears to work just fine, however I have a little nag? where is that power going? is it going to overload a relay somewhere? will it just go back to the battery, I just dont know!?

Can anybody in the mighty BCF give me any ideas/re-assurence?
Am I opening a can of worms here or will it be ok?

Thank you people Thumbs Up

If you mean the little side light, isn't it a 5 watt bulb? Wouldn't have thought it would put any extra loading on the rest of the bike - in fact you're removing a load from the electrical system. The power isn't used so it stays in the battery. If it's just a 5 watt bulb I wouldn't worry at all.

Hi there,

As previous answer said, if the switch is in line and just breaks the live feed to the accessory, then switching the switch off will just break the power supply and not cause any extra load on the system and as previously stated by the first answer, will reduce the load on the electrical system.

In the same way that when you are riding down the road and you are not using your brakes, the brake light is not on, but when the lever is pulled or stamped on, a switch connects electricity to the bulb and lights it up, it is not diverted anywhere, just cut off.

Hope that helps.

Mike
