I'll change the right hand side gasket.
Seems like the previous owner used a red silicone like material to seal the engine. (don't know why)
I ordered a OEM gasket. Should I use any lubricant or anything? Just whack the gasket there and put the engine cover back?

Could always do the BCF BBQ special Wink box of beers..use the box and get nowhere.elysium to fit it Laughing

That said...My old car head gasket had that red stuff round it.

Clean surfaces, get it on straight and bolt up nicely. Not sure how nowhere.elysium did my gasket...but hey.. it works Laughing

I normally put a little bit of grease on the mating surface to hold the gasket in place.

The trick is not fitting the gasket but thorougly removing the old one. I usually use a stanley knife blade.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

My main worry would not so much be the nw gasket, or even removing the old one... but where has the silly shit used instead of or as well as old gasket got to, when it glooped out of the joint and solidified into little blobules inside the engine.......
