Night riding is the best after a long sunny day, tarmac is still warm as is the air, everyones in bed or miles away from you so gives you the ability to propperly hoon your bike. Try not to over cook it though, don't want to be waking people up to help you collect bits of bike or worse. Thumbs Up

So true, just after a little jaunt myself though half of it was with a police car up my arse after it pulled in to let me pass then followed me for 10 minutes. Also I found the pot holes seem to be even more invisible as I flew over one at 30mph with my arse leaving the seat getting some air. Other than that night riding is fantastic nice empty roads.

My favourite time to ride is late in the night when its really dark on small back roads in heavy rain. Flip the visor up (Or the face if its my flip face) and let the rain hit me in the face, not being able to see the turn until seconds before, speeding and having a right good laugh.

My honest to god best ride was at 11:00pm one winter night in November 2010 when it was raining heavily and I was on a road I had never been on before full of blind bends and inclines. So much fun...

ive been scouting about on google earth and i found an intresting place possible track . im going to go check it out this weekend or next . its on unused closed roads in a rural area . behind it is an army firing range thats shut off by a elongated hillside the place was abandoned long ago the roads remain . looks easy enough to get into straight round the side of the bollard job . heres a picture of it

Got to say I've got mine planned just going get a reflective jacket (£4) encase their are any nutters on the road.

The local A road is empty from 2am till 4am; I really want a go on it as it has got a tunnel which is quite fun to go through in a car. Anything that is fun in a car is 10x as fun on a bike at least Cool .

Also prefer sleeping in the day in summer so night time riding is best for me less cages.

Used to do quite a bit of night riding on my way back from Whitby to Leeds, glad to say my days of doing that are over.

Had a 2T seizure, cue a back wheel lockup @ 70mph, fishtailing all over, hard to grab the clutch when your hand is frozen solid. Then having to wait on the moors for about 2 hours for a recovery.

Had a deer run out in front of me on the A169, saw its eyes light up at the side of the road, and I KNEW it was going to just pick the right time (as I was about to go past it) to run in front of me. Hit some part of it at around 70 and stayed on, must've clipped its foot.

And various times running out of petrol due to the dodgy reserve on the TZR.

I would wary of that place, you may find some people in uniform with guns or tanks floating around.

very easy find on google Smile

Nice to see you've discovered the wonders of late riding!

Personally, I like to get the bike out at 2am or so on what has been a very warm day as it's not cold and very nice outside with absolutely zero cars, lovely.

I just came back from an hour's blast on the bike. I love riding at night on my own, there's nobody around and the roads are clear. It's harder to spot police but if you try and stick to roads you know and have an idea of where they usually park up, it helps.

Only downfall is, Friday/Saturday night and there's allot of piss head drivers about. I counted at least 2 people driving pissed up, you could tell from the extremely slow speed and erratic movements of this one guy I just followed for a mile and he kept trying to pull over but not managing it.

Sounds horrible Confused Shocked

And what's with all these dark visor's malarkey?

I've got one of these new fangled helmets, basically theres a small lip on the bottom of the visor which I can put my finger underneath and it lifts up.
I can also take it off if need be and switch it for a similar transparent one of the need arises. I think its called a 'clear visor' or something, marvellous invention Razz

there like sunglasses, helps to see when its sunny

fangled helmets ? do you mean the helmet has a small curve the size of your thumb so you can flip the visor up ? if so, then this is not new. or do you mean the visor has a little tab on it that you push up ? again, not new lol

I hate riding with my iridium visor on at night, can't see anything but sometimes you can't help it and get caught out. Have to ride with it open even though my eyes water badly, it's better than not seeing where the road is.
