I have recently dropped my Honda CBF600N whilst getting off on a slope Sad (I held it for as long as I could...was more that I slowly placed her on the floor). The only damage caused was slight scratches on the middle rim of the engine cover. (really anoyingly, I ordered a set of crash mushrooms that very day which would have protected the cover Evil or Very Mad ). Does anyone have any advice/tips on repairing the damage? Any help would be apreciated Smile

The Anal way...

Remove cover, fill scratches and imperfections with chemical metal and allow to set, carefully file down untill it looks "Right" then re-spray in metallic silver from Honda for a perfect colour match.

What I would probably do...

You could probably just paint over it and nobody but you would know

Thats a scratch not a crack or real damage, in fact it's more of a chip. I'd either just ignore it / touch it up with some paint / Sand prime and spray over the area.

Basically it's just a battle scar and wouldn't do much to devalue the bike or make it look any worse, it just makes it look like it's actually been used rather than polished.

If you like you could make up some story about how you got it that you could tell down the pub. Ideally said story should require hand gestures similar to those describing the movements of a acrobatic aircraft to fully explain.

Well, what I'd do is.. well, nothing other than rubbing over it with a greasy finger and possibly going as far as making a tutting noise.

Or you could carefully burr off the raised parts of the scratch with a fine file, fill the scratch with some plastic filler, sand it down, take the cover off and repaint it. That however seems like a whole lot of effort for a piece of totally insignificant damage. I've had worse from a stone-chip.

Ignore it, ride the bike.

I was once riding at 60 foing one way, and a lorry threw up a stone going 60 the other way, 120mph stone to the knee. I felt like i;d been shot but i carried on, had a bruse for a few days but was otherwise okay. I should imagine the same thing happens to various bits of my bike on a daily basis. It it were a 40k bike i'd care a 5k bike and i'd just carry on regardless

Thanks for the replies Smile I know its really not that bad but ive only had the bike for 2 weeks so as u'd know, any slight damage feels 10 times worst lol. Think il file, fill and touch up with paint (originally what i intended to do but didnt know if better/easier way Smile )
