The effect of a screen on mpg and top speed is unlikely to be noticeable on the roads. Screens are mostly to throw some of the wind over you and make riding a little more confortable.

It depends on the bike, really.

If you are on a 50cc, a big screen will make a noticable difference to speed/mpg.

However, if you're riding a 125cc or bigger (read: the majority of motorcycles) then it will make a negligible difference to both speed and mpg.
