Salutations comrades.

I travelled to derby to Racing Lines the other day (after getting lost several times as my sat nav decided to die half way down the M42!) as I had seen a recomendation for these chaps on here from a while back (Oct 2010?).
I paid the £20 for him to set it up after asking me how I ride, etc. He then told me that he'd set it up so that it'd be a tiny bit soft for 2up (I do a fair amount of 2up) and a bit hard for solo. It's great for 2up but really far too stiff for solo, on my commute to work my feet are coming off the pegs occasionally, it really is too bumpy.

Suspension setup goes over my head, so what is it I need to adjust to make it softer and more crucially, why?*

Many thanks,
Benson

youy can't really set up a bike to do both single and 2 person riding, but if it were me id wind down the preload on both the front and back and not touch anything else, that way you can just wind the preload back up again when you get a passenger on the back

Yeah but I wouldn't mind the 2up being a bit softer and thus the solo a bit softer. I'll try the preload thing. Cheers!

Hi

Could also be the damping is set too stiff.

Springs are there to control how far the suspension moves. Damping is there to control how quickly it moves.

When you hit a bump the suspension needs to move quickly. Stiff springing can prevent that (as the suspension doesn't move) as can over hard damping (as it can't move quickly).

Make sure you note what the current positions are.

All the best

Keith
