 |
|
A week a go I got off my ship, got back to Heathrow and picked up a hire car.
I had bought some wheels for my Alfa Romeo off ebay and decided to pick them up on my way home so hired an estate (VW Passat).
Got to Walatham Abbey and got the wheels then on my way pack to the M25 I was passing a digger in the road when it spun its bucket round and took out my front wing. In a digger v Passat road wars the digger always wins, lol.
Anyway phoned Avis, all they were interested in was whether I needed another car, I didn't. So got the insurance details (National Farmers Union ) and came home.
Now I had damage waiver so not bothered about that, but what happens when I come to renew my car and bike insurance. I presume I have to tell them. Do I lose my no claims even though I haven't claimed on my insurance?
Any ideas? ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

the term claim is where you ask for repairs due to an accident which was your fault OR the other road user done a runner / was un-insured.
If the digger caused the accident THEY are claiming, not you.
Regarding have you had any accidents / convictions / claims on forms, I am not to sure as you can argue that you were involved in an accident, you did not have an accident as such.
If you walk to your car in a car park and someone has driven into the side of your car you did NOT have an accident but you have to report repairs. |
Incorrect slighty.. I have to claim for 11 accidents, although 0 were caused by me hitting another person, it was them hitting me.
To be honest, its a bit of a bastard claim as its a hire cars insurance. If it works the same as my company car insurance...then their insurers deal with it and you hear nothing and claim for nothing... unless you were injured.
All your claim details will show up when you go for insurance, and if you dont declare them they can and will cancel your insurance, then you have to tick another box saying have you ever had insuranced cancelled... its bites you in the arse |

but doesn't the term claim count if you are paying the excess. You can report an accident and get a repair on the other persons insurance but your don't lose your No Claims Bonus.
I have got 6 years NCB on the car and 3 years NCB on the bike.
2 people have hit my car, which have been repaired but I have not lost my NCB (without NCB Protection) |
