Hi all.

we have here a VFR 750 86 model, now after a few weeks or so the bike started to loose power. now it appeared that one of the heads have gone, so... instead of repairing this it was decided that it would be easyer to buy a new engine and a lot more cost effective pft Rolling Eyes We found a engine from a 86 model for a good price, got the engine back and fitted it into the frame, wired the electrics up but there was on left from the loom that had no place to fit on the engin, it turns out that the broken engine has a cam sensor on it, where as the new one doesnt.

What i was hoping was to find the correct CDI unit for the new engine. Would this work or would we need a new loom, the ebay seller said we should have had no problems, he advertised it for the bike we have here but with a no returns policy, so bit screwed really.

Any advice guys would be great, oh and just for the record we have tried to fire it up, the engine does turn.

Thanks in advance Smile

Hi

Surprised at a bike that age having a change like that between different minor models.

With a cdi change you would need to check the wiring diagrams carefully. Might plug in easily or they might have swapped a load of things over (had that with my FZ750, bought a decent Japanese market bike loom and then found that although various plugs were the same Yamaha had decided to swap around the wires in the plugs).

All the best

Keith

Have a word on the VFR forum, someone on there will know the easiest way to sort it.
