I did similar in the off-roading section, so thought I'd do similar for bikes in general.

Feel free to add and I'll try and update when I can be bothered Smile.

Worth considering:
https://www.ebay.co.uk - national site, good selection, make sure you check the bike out before bidding.
https://www.biketrader.co.uk - have to pay quite a lot to advertise, so don't expect serious bargains, but a very good selection.
https://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikesforsale/ - have to pay, so don't expect amazing bargains. Not a great selection these days it seems.
https://www.adtrader.co.uk - free ads site, often some good bargains.
https://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/index.asp?g=7 - reasonable selections and nicely presented adverts.

Less worth considering:
https://www.loot.co.uk - never as good as adtrader these days it seems.
https://www.gumtree.com - be careful as it seems there are a lot of clueless owners and in some cases stolen bikes on here.
https://www.friday-ad.co.uk - seems to be a few blatant scams there, otherwise ok.
https://www.preloved.co.uk/theururlistoolong - not an amazing selection.
https://www.freeads.co.uk/uk/motors/motorcycles/ - not a great selection either.
https://www.mpldigital.com/mortons-media/motorcycle-monthly/ - lots of bikes listed, but no search as it's a 'virtual magazine', so is represented as a paper publication through a flash interface.

Probably not worth considering:
https://www.fish4.co.uk/cars/bikes - uninspiring, but sometimes some bargains, can't search for a specific model it seems.
https://www.ukbike.com - poorly put together site that seems to be mostly dealers, I'd avoid.
https://www.motorcyclesupermarket.com/ - like the above, but with a better search, still just dealers it seems, ads often mis-labled.
https://www.ridetrader.co.uk/ - a goldwing is listed as a 'thumper', run by idiots it seems, avoid.
https://www.oldbikemart.co.uk/classifieds.php - for old bikes, haven't looked further.
https://www.motosale.com/ - poorly put together, another 'avoid'.
https://www.bikerbits.com/ - 541 bikes listed and 81 bits, not much.
https://motorcycle-trader.co.uk - another poorly put together site.
https://www.bikesforbikers.co.uk/php - doesn't look very popular.

General forums:
(Note that many forums don't allow newbies to post for sale posts.)
https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewforum.php?f=7 - well, duh!
https://www.visordown.com/classifieds/search/ -oddly been made less easy to use since they've introduced a 'proper' classifieds system.
https://londonbikers.com/forums/Forum39-1.aspx - not too bad
https://www.gbbikers.co.uk/gbb/index.php?board=73.0 - dunno.
https://www.superbikeforums.co.uk/index.php/board,42.0.html - not that active.

This actually seems to be a meta-search engine, using https://www.oodle.co.uk/, however does seem quite effective, so a good addition Thumbs Up.

Pistonheads ( https://www.pistonheads.com/sales/index.asp?g=7 ) is worth adding to that list too, no way near the selection of Ebay or Biketrader, but it's free to advertise there and seems to get a modest amount of use, I've had more luck there than with Visordown for example Thumbs Up

Nice one G, very helpful.

Especially since I've almost finished my A2 so I will be needing to sell my bike and purchase another.

https://www.motorcyclemonthly.co.uk/

Just picked a copy up at a bike garage. Not a bad little read.
Has a classified section.

Can I suggest my own site: www.bike-shack.com

It's only been going for a couple of weeks but its pretty well built and as i'm a software dev by trade I am improving it literally every day.

At the moment we have very few bikes despite being free. It's been incredibly hard to persuade people to list their bike with a brand new site, but when a bike advert is listed we rank very highly in search engines for that specific make, model, location and with more bikes that can only improve. It's really a bit of a Catch-22! If you got a bike to sell please give us a try, I'm committed to making this the best place for bikers in the UK to advertise and buy their bikes! Smile

Thanks,
James

Problem you have is 'public knowledge'; most listed already are household names so people automatically go to them.

I setup 'another' stolen bikes website which took a lot of work, I contacted A LOT of big brands and organisations but nobody is too keen on taking the chance using something that isn't 'known'.

SEO means nothing these days since Google do much of the work themselves, an admin's task is getting people aware of the site; to be able to use it.

Yeah, that's exactly the problem, but it isn't going to stop me from trying. I do think I have a chance against the big boys as I'm concentrating purely on motorbikes and nothing else. That's the plan anyway! Although perhaps i've taken one too many of my optimism pills today! Wink

If you're from the midlands

www.usedwalsall.co.uk
www.usedwolverhampton.co.uk
www.usedsandwel.co.uk
www.useddudley.co.uk

and so on. They are all the same site but they seem to have brought many URL's to cover the areas.

They sell lots of things, bear in mind some of it may be stolen however, especially in the car stereo sections and a fair few bikes knocking about with owners who have 'lost keys, can't find logbook'.
