Hey guys, me and my dad are going to wales this weekend for a first proper bike trip. We're planning on heading up to Barmouth from Milton Keynes, i was just wondering if anyone knew any good places to stay or any good routes in wales.

Cheers for any info Thumbs Up

Not that its on your route, but Newtown to Llandrindod Wells is a lovely road.

I took an even more scenic route up from Hey to Newtown, then down and round the Brecons. Just about the best day I've ever had on a bike! Had a massive Very Happy the whole way round.

Newtown

Builth Wells

Llandrindod Wells

Brecon (stopping off at the Honey Cafe at Bronllys for a meal, or Storey Arms between Brecon and Merthyr for a burger?)

maybe make your way down to Llandovery / Llandeilo

I've just been on a three day jolly to wales. The best roads I went on/were recommended were:

Llandrindod Wells to Aberystwyth (along the mountain road)
Llandrindod Wells to Newtown
Anything A470
Trawsfynydd to Bala (this was v. popular with bikes on the sunday)

My route was:

Newbury > Llandrindod Wells > Aberystwyth > Porthmadog > Llandugno > Bala > Newbury

530 miles in total, £80 petrol

https://www.tyddynllwyn.com/ Stayed here, is a top 100 site £18/night I would highly recommend it.

https://www.riversidecaravans.com/ This was our stop over £11/night more than adequate, biker friendly.

This website was posted a while ago, but everyone called it spam. I thought it to be pretty good. Especially the more routes that are added.

Give it a try, there are couple of other routes not already posted.
