I noticed another thread with a starting issue and it reminded me of mine.... more of a bug at the moment but seems to be getting worse so figured I would try to sort it before it gets any worse.

I have an xj600 diversion (L reg), very low miles, been stored in a garage for a few years.... anyhoo the problem that has started recently is when I go to start it somewhere around the battery area there is just a click sound and I have to try pressing the start button a few times to start it. This started about a week ago and it was one click and tonight I got about 10 presses before it started.

Not a battery issue as that is only about 2 months old, I've tried switching off and on again but that doesn't make any difference.

Any ideas?

Even if it has been stored or not connectors can get full of corrosion.
I had a problem like this with my VTR and it turned out to be the wire to the starter motor had been loose and eventually the sparking burnt out the connector and it snapped.

If your battery is strong then check out all of your connections to start with, sometimes issues like that can be related to a starter relay in need of a clean or replacing.
