seems theres a bit of a riot going on
news reports say 2 cop cars burned out, 1 bus burned and shops looted
looks like it was a good idea to cancel a trip I had planned for theis weekend to london, not far from
where its all going down, I would have been going through Stamford Hill about 7:30 pm tonight Sad

looks like the locals think the cops shot a guy after a gunfight
and the locals want answers but as usual the cops as being slow to release details

Quote:
Petrol bombs have been thrown at police and a shop, two patrol cars and a bus set on fire in a disturbance in Tottenham, north London.

The incident began after a protest over the fatal shooting of a young man by police on Thursday turned violent.

About 300 people have gathered outside the police station on the High Road.

Members of the community had taken to the streets to demand "justice" after the shooting of a 29-year-old father-of-four, named locally as Mark Duggan.

The BBC's Ben Ando, who is at the scene, described the situation as a "stand off" and said firefighters had come under attack.
Shops looted

Two patrol cars were set alight at about 20:20 BST but officers were not inside at the time.
Shops in the area have also been looted with people seen pushing away shopping trolleys full of goods.

A double decker bus was set on fire at the junction of High Road and Brook Street while a shop on the High Road has also been set alight.

Fire crews were initially unable to reach the shop due to the disorder but have now begun tackling the flames.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a large crowd had assembled, but not all of the people on the streets were involved in the disorder.

I actually think its a good thing in a way. Usually in England, if the cops kill an innocent person, we listen to their lies which become less convincing over time as more comes out, and we say tut tut.
In greece or turkey, they have a riot straight away.

I think this is a good thing, we are too tolerant of police killing people.
We should have had a riot for the newspaper seller.

Yeah thanks, I take your point and I don't think we should. Having been on the receiving end of a couple of smackings from the police in the past, I'm certainly not their greatest fan.

I do, however think we are far too tolerant of civil unrest, whether it be some muppets kicking off in a crying about the cuts demo, or these clever lot lobbing bricks at a police van.

Sorry but once it gets to this level, they shouldn't kettle or cordon, just deal with them in a manner that they obviously understand. If you pile into a riot, you should be prepared to forfeit any rights you think you have and not whinge if you get dealt with in a harsh manner.

civil unrest is a good thing now & then
it reminds the establishment the people will only tolerate there BS for so long
before we demand answers, the looting etc is the people that abuse the situation for there own gain
thats wrong, and gives them the excuse to label the protesters as criminals and thiefs

Oldpink - you put it clearer than I did. My original comment did not mean infer that that there was no provocation/reason for the original protest (and I think that protests are a good thing) but rather that the people who jump on the bandwagon and use the situation for their own gains should be summarily dealt with.

Unless anyone can explain to me how nicking a TV from a shop is either an acceptable retort for police wrongdoings or 'sticking it to the system'?

I feel this quote is pertinent to the question:

Quote:
You have the emergence in human society of this thing that's called
The State. What is the State? The State is this organized bureaucracy.
It is the police department. It is the Army the Navy. It is the prison
System the courts and what have you. This is the State it is a repressive
Organization. But the state and gee well you know you've got to have the
Police because if there were no police, look at what you'd be doing to
Yourselves -- you'd be killing each other if there were no police! But the
Reality is the police become necessary in human society only at that junction
In human society where it is split between those who have and those who ain't got

Was watching this on the news at 2 am this morning, looks like lots of dark people doing what they so best! All because some 'elder' bloke who was well respected by the community got killed?! He shot at a copper so wtf did he expect? I hate the police at the best of times but these people bring it on themselves.
The community are just using it as an excuse to start a riot and cause as much damage as possible, obviously the looting is an important part of their message to the police....
Did anyone see the black cunt running down the street with a trolley full of stolen shit?! I expect he's 'another' pillar of the community I'm sure !
Fucking scumbags the lot of 'em!

Which wouldn't be such a problem if they weren't uniformed, with the state behind them.

It is being reported that a peaceful protest was hijacked by a violent minority.

I wonder which minority that was.... Thinking

He shot a copper. Shouldn't have been surprised when they shot back.

Even if the story does come out as different, why was he carrying a pistol anyway?

I've heard some circulation of witness reports than the man was lying on the floor when he was shot, something about his body being kept for 36 hours before his family were allowed to see it and at the protest outside the police station a 16 year old girl was beaten by officers.. Would have thought there had been more to it than just that but msm have been reliably shite and focussed on the looting..
