Anyone in Reading, please refuse to use the Murco Station on Henley Rd (A4155). He refused to turn the pump on unless I paid up front or left my helmet as a deposit, because some 'bikes fill up and then ride off.' Needless to say I went elsewhere (and I didn't even swear!).

I had the same at the esso on marlborough/swindon road near J15 of the M4 a couple of days ago

I'd often go in there on way out or back from somewhere without a problem.

I had flip open on my lid. bike is signwritten etc.

"pump seven, remove your crash helmet"

Pump seven is going somewhere else for fuel in future, thanks

For realsies? He might as well hang a "NO BLACKS, IRISH OR BIKERS" sign up and be done with it then.

Bet they wouldn't say that if there was more than one biker using the pumps at the time.

How about "someone" producing stickers with "NOT BIKER FRIENDLY" to be stuck to the entrances of such establishments??

eBay "inkjet decal paper", 10 minutes of Googling for clip art, and you can make any custom stickers that you like.

Ive had similar experiences before, I was told to remove my helmet over the tannoy, despite wearing a flip face with the face up (this was at a total). I then proceded to flip the face down, walk into the shop and ask him why the fuck I should have to remove my helmet and would he ask a muslim woman to remove her face scarf? When he responded that he wouldn't I asked him if he was being racist because im white or if he had a prejudice against bikers. Again, no. So I asked what the problem was, he said that there was no problem. I proceded to fill up and then payed with my face down.

I heard about someone (might have been on here) that had a problem with tesco. They filled up without a problem, walked into the shop and the woman refused to serve him with a helmet on. He tried to pay again and again she refused. So he quite clearly said, whilst recording it I think, that he wished to pay, she again refused, so he walked out and rode off.

He later gets the cops knocking at his door, he shows them the recording and they leave him alone.

Some people are just W*ankers, either tell em' where to shove it or walk away.

it's hard to believe that they'd be so prejudiced to a paying customer.
Good to hear that you voted with your feet... although I don't think I'd have been able to be so calm.

Good idea about the stickers though Thumbs Up

The only place that I have ever had a problem with has now closed down.I had no cash with me and I was on a 125.I could only get so much into the tank,so when I went to pay the cashier by cheque (I had a 125 that long ago) they said that there was a minimum amount and I had not passed that amount. The cashier suggested that I buy something else as well as my petrol,to which I refused.I asked him to make an exception in my case and he refused once again. So I just wrote the cheque out for the amount that I had dispensed, got back on my bike and drove off.To all intents,I had paid in full.

get the local Hells' Angels chapter to go there, and when they invariably don't encounter an attitude problem they can ask the manager why the fuck he has a problem with other bikers Twisted Evil

I knew this would happen.

It's just a random photo stolen via google. I'm not suggesting they are not biker friendly

You should probably fuzz out the name of the shop, its a bit unfair if people stumble across the image on google and think there's something going on.

I had similar in a Shell station from a miserable bitch behind the counter, filled up with lid on, went into pay, asked to remove lid, I told her I had plugs in so I couldn't hear her, think I put £9.98 in or something, anyway after a few minutes of her point blank refusing to accept my card, I walked out which infuriated her, then went to cash machine, took £10 out, walked back in, put £10 on the counter, lent over slightly and picked up 2p that was near her and walked out.

She went insane, I then took forever to get off the pump.

Also had it where I have picked up the pump, hasn't activated, waited, then got the speaker system to remove my lid, so I started my bike up, placed the nozzle on the floor and left. Thumbs Up

If they make you prepay then at that point it's your petrol to do with what you wish. Prepay your money then at some point spray the some all over the floor and calmly push your bike away gesturing to the attendant there is petrol on the floor. Serious health risk and they'll have to close the pump and clear it up. 2 things they really don't want to do.

They usually ask for a minimum amount in such cases because they are charged for banking the cheque (as well as the general additional hassle, which they're paying staff time for, etc).
So you had not really 'paid in full' because you had left them short of money.

flat spot:
Rather suspect you could get done for intentionally leaving a flamable fluid on the floor of someone else'e property if you do it too obviously. Or they could get revenge by following you home and tipping 50l of 'their' petrol over your driveway/garden/front door.

I really don't understand why some garages don't authorise bikers, I've worked in garages for 3 years and the only drive off's I've had 4 wheels or more (one was a HGV worth £438). Simply go else where rather than causing problems, we get paid the same either way and the longer we take to clean it up the less time we have to deal with the public lol.

As for cleaning the spill up, we're supposed too but.....I work on my own so have no choice but to leave it until it's quite anyway,

here in BC , we had a kid try to stop someone filling a dashing off , the kid was dragged half a mile by the car , so now most stations have card locks you can pay with credit or debit .,no interaction with anyone if you don't want it's a bit of a pain to get used to and a hassle with gloves and all but it works..

We have pay-at-the-pump here as well. However, it's the exception - per pump as well as per filling station - because they want us inside so that we can buy marked-up cat food and tampons.

Personally I start checking my local supermarket when I hit about half a tank. If there's a pay-at-the-pump available, I'll fill up, otherwise I'll just ride through.
