Any suggestions (or experience) on how to do this? I'm thinking a backpack-style case is probably the best way...

I know a lady with a banjo.

She came from Alabama, carried it on her knee.

I have a back pack case for my Guitar. Really comfy, secure, although only at town speeds. I don't know if I'd risk going too fast.

A Gibson backpack case will withstand 80mph....BUT...Only with manly electric guitars..not for 6 fingered banjo freaks.

Myself and Hellkat know this man called Stevie who plays a mandolin at many rallies and bike shows around the country. He turns up, on his bike, with his tent and rally kit and his mandolin, and I've never thought to ask the question - how does he carry the mandolin!!! Shocked

He can be contacted tonight on the 'Facebook Bikers' page. Although you could ask him direct, just google Stevie one man one mandolin. Something will come up. Thumbs Up

Is this the same guy who rode a Varadero 125 and made cakes?
He used to go on the old BikerBabes site. Cool guy.

Indeed, I've ridden with Guitar in it's case on my back, however I rarely go above 60-70 as I don't want to test how strong it is.

I have an image of Antonio Bandaras in 'Once upon a time in Mexico'; on a Chopper, his guitar case strapped upright to the sissy bar... but I think I'm confudling film iconography!

I'd be interested to know the answer to this myself, actually. Laughing

Mandolin Stevie is cooler than a penguin's chuff.
But I think he has a Triumph?

Perfect pitch is someone throwing a banjo down a well without it hitting the sides.

I carry my bass in a softcase on my back, with the amp cargo-netted to the pillion seat. You could always go the same route Alexio does though :-
