So, my bike wont start.

Ive spoken to a few people and they say to check the electrics.. after doing so I find this..

No idea what this red plug plugs into, as there isn't anywhere for it to go..
Also, the green and very light pink wire that's connected to the red plug has been cut, aswell as this other green and dark pink wire with a bullet connector on..

Can anyone shed any light on this green wire too? I'm guessing it connects to the earth on the battery? It doesn't reach to anywhere else? I can't be fucked to take all the black shrouding off the wires to find out. Laughing

There is also 2 wires going to the clutch assembly?

On many bikes the green wire is the earth.But in your picture it looks as though the wire has been cut rather than a stress break.

The last picture shows the clutch switch.This switches out the electric starter on bikes fitted with one,so that the bike may not be started in gear.These are easy to test with a multimeter,one of which can cheaply be bought from places like MachineMart,Screwfix,Halfords etc.These are always a useful tool to have in your tool box.

Get the wire diagram to find out for sure. Was it running before you got it? The two to the clutch will be a clutch switch. You need to pull the clutch in to start bike. Good chance you have a side stand switch also.

Oh and get that chain cleaned.

Fat chance in me finding a wiring diagram for a Tmec! LOL. It's a Honda XR direct copy so would the wiring diagram for a Honda XR 125 be the same?

I've tried having the clutch in when kicking, the side stands been up, down, midway and all sorts. I have a new chain so not at all fussed that this ones fucked. Very Happy

Has it ever started? What changed? Do you have spark? Check the killswitch for continuity to ground, there shouldn't be any with it in the off position (engine running position).

Check spark by whipping out the plug + hold it against the engine block and kicking it, you should see a spark. Whilst it's out check to see if it's wet. Does it smell of fuel? Does it have any black deposits on it or is it burnt white?

Haha sorry I realise I've been plenty vague mate.

Right. I've gone over the whole bit and yes, It has a spark but it still won't fire despite backfiring and trying to. The plug smells of fuel, there is fuel in the bike (Albeit 6+ months old) and all the wiring (Apart from in the pics) Seems to be connected.

That wire with the red block doesn't connect to anything despite coming out of the crank-casing. I've looked at a Honda XR 125 wiring diagram in color and it has all the right colored wires but doesn't coincide with the red plug on the bike so I'm guessing it isn't the same, whether the bikes a copy of an XR or not. Neutral

The spark plug is brand new and is a direct replacement from the one that was in the bike before.
It has been started, and was run to and from college in from 2008 to 2009 (When it was registered). The guy I got it from had brought it for his Son and said that he went to his girlfriends on it, parked up and went to leave and come home but the bike wouldn't start.. and hasn't since then. I need a multi meter really.

Also, the battery hasn't got a charge - none at all. Will that have an effect on the bike not starting? It has a kickstart and surely the bike should still fire?

If I'm being dumb I genuinely deserve for someone to absolutely destroy me with a comment. Very Happy

If you have a spark then it is generating power to the coil from a magneto type winding on the alternator winding.

If the bike is backfiring the fuel sounds as though it has gone off.Drain the old petrol from the tank,check the fuel filter and put some fresh stuff in.Then drain the carb float chamber and allow fresh fuel to flush through the carb.Make sure that there is sufficient flow from the tank through the carb via the drain pipe on the bottom of the carb.If it stops after a while,flip the filler cap open and see if flow resumes.If fuel flow then resumes check the fuel cap breather holes.

I'm due to fly to Northern Ireland Wednesday and have to sort out some stuff tomorrow so the bike can go in the shed until I'm back. I shall put fresh petrol in then.

It just cuts out the starter motor circuit, everything else is still "live" -ignition circuit etc so bump starting is not a problem. But that's only with the clutch out and in gear, clutch in and it will start on the button if in gear or not, or at least bikes I've had do, dunno if there are others where they won't start if in gear with the clutch in.

Cleaned out the carburetor, changed the oil and tidied up the electrics. It hasn't got me anywhere yet. I've replaced the fuel and it still wont fire.

I feel like setting fucking fire to it. I don't know anything about electrics, and definitely nothing about 4 strokes. Sad
