ive just got back from my first track day at donington park. 3 of us went and it was the first track day for all of us.

the whole day was brilliant from start to finish. learnt so much as my confidence grew after every session and i even managed to get my knee down once.

and luckily we only had a couple of light showers all day so that was lucky. looks like my enduro bike is going to have to make way for a track bike.

im just uploading the pictures onto facebook as i type so i'll add a link when they are done.

dont know why they didnt make me tape my lights up, and i didnt want to remove them. i put some tape over the lense of the mirror so i wasnt tempted to keep looking through them but i didnt want to remove them.

I've never been "made" to tape up my lights on a track day or my mirrors for that matter (but I removed them anyway so I wouldn't keep looking at them). Taping up the speedo helps I found also Smile .

They suggest that you tape up your lights and fold in or remove your mirrors but it isn't compulsory. If they made it compulsory then it would imply some sort of scrutineering. If scrutineering was introduced they open themselves up for litigation in the event of a mechanical failure.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I though they made you tape the lights to stop shattered glass on the track in an off.

They suggest it, but they don't make you.

Plus, have you known many bikes in recent years to have actual glass in their headlights? Cos I don't.
