My son recently bought a Derbi Senda SM 50 DRD Edition. At the time he bought it he knew it had a problem with the front and rear lights being very dim but thought it may be a connection problem somewhere on the bike, but having checked all connections cannot establish what the problem is. The lights have now stopped working completely. Can anyone point us in the right direction. A friend told me it could be the rectifier but don't want to shell out £50 to find out thats not the problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

Rectifier... test it.

Grab a multimeter and check the volts on the battery with the bike off. Should be around 12.5 upwards for a good battery.

Get the bike running, rev it a little (mine doesnt need revving...but some may do) the voltage should change to around 14v.

If so the charging circuit is working and the rectifier should be all good.

Cant help with the lights, I hate electrics
