Aprilia RS50 cutting out ignition at max rpm

Hi, i've tried so many forums and no one can help me

I hope maybe someone can help me here. Basically i have a 2000 Aprilia RS50 with a 70cc big bore kit that was rebuilt last week. I've bought this bike not long ago and didn't have a chance to drive it around properly until Monday.

The problem im having with it is that when im driving at around 50-55mph and 11k rpm the bike seems to have problems to keep driving like that and cuts out everything ( bike doesn't respond to throttle, no sound or anything) then rpm's drop to 8k and everything comes back to normal. The engine isn't overheating as the gauge is always under the middle line.

Any ideas?

did you upjet the carb for the 70cc kit?

i haven't as the previous owner had a 70cc kit on it aswell so i assumed he fitted one. do you think that could be the problem ? what sort of jet should i be looking for on a 70cc kit on an AM6 engine?

fail,you need to jet up to match the amount of extra fuel being burnt

havnt a clue how many you should up jet by,do a few plug chops and buy a selecton of jets to see what makes the plug turn a tea colour

i will try to buy some jets this week, i looked at adrenaline pedstop and for £7.50 i can buy a pack of jets with sizes from 100 to 122/

make sure they are for the right carb etc


i had a 2000 rs50 with the standard kit and it did me fine
