Hi there I have the above bike (1994). The reserve tank no longer works and I cant remember which way the tap should be turned for the main tank and the reserve tank as the marking has worn off. Does anyone know how I could fix this?

I *think* it's down for main and up for reserve. It's not 2 separate tanks, but 2 separate tubes, the main being longer/taller than the reserve which sits nearer to the bottom of the tank, where the sediment and rust like to settle. I bet the reserve tube is blocked. Or you're using the tap the wrong way.

OK thanks well I must be using the main tank because if I put in a tenner it will run for a tenners worth but if it then conks and i switch the tap it wont start. How would I go about cleaning that pipe?

Drain the tank as much as possible.
Remove it (the tank), stand it on its end to the tap is at the top.
There will probably be 2 screws (1 either side of the tap). Remove those and gently withdraw the tap.
There will be a mesh filter on there which is probably clogged. Use compressed air etc to clean it.

You can check to see which way the tap needs to be by removing the filter and blowing up the outlet with the tap in each of the three positions. The longest pipe is for 'main' and the shortest is for 'reserve'.

Before refitting it, clean and check the rubber 'O' ring and replace if necessary.
