Good one him one having the courage and effort to challenge it. Thumbs Up

Fair play to the fella for proving his car couldnt do 115 - but he still admitted he was well over the speed limit, and he pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. Hardly a role model for other drivers to follow, ehhh?

Mr Lucky took on the plod a couple of years ago and basically proved that the cop in question was lying as where he said he was standing he could not possibly have recorded the speed in the way he said he had

he was a liar

Lucky still had to pay all his own court fees though Evil or Very Mad

I believe the man involved was a law student so probably represented himself. Good on him for proving he couldn't do 115mph in his car, but if he couldn't how did they come up with a figure of 115mph?

If the reading was proved to be false maybe the police should write to all the other drivers they did that day at that location and cancel the tickets they issued.

It just goes to show that electronic speed measurement can be wildly inaccurate and should be cut back in favour of police drivers and riders who can also make a considered judgement on whether someone is actually doing something dangerous.

Nicely done!

It's the old Lenny Henry Joke:

Police "Can you tell me how fast you were going?"

Motorist "You tell me, you're the one trying to keep up"

It all depends on the type of detection equipment that is being used. I don't trust Vascar as it depends on the 'honesty' of the plod telling the system how far the suspect has travelled by starting and stopping it over a certain distance.

Tell me about it Sad

Just been done for 88 in a 70 average speed over two miles by a bikecop. Fucker Thumbs Down Thing is, I was sure I was doing less than that at the time, and it was obvious the guy was a complete nobber Evil or Very Mad So how can I be sure he pushed the button at the right time?

Gah nine points now. Not good.

You don't as from what I understand it relies on the copper pressing 4 buttons to record the times when you and s/he pass two different points. It is as inaccurate as they want it to be.

All the best

From my limited experiance with the plod I found that they get misreadings quite often

I was supposedly clocked at 110.4mph by a biker cop and yet he was catching me while doing 105mph. Needless to say they let me off.

On the other hand what was there to stop the 20 year old dropping the 1.6 gti lump out of his car that he had modified and fitting the standard lump back in before the car was tested for top speed?

There is a cable on my bike that I can unplug at any time that limits my bike to 80mph. Wonder if they would buy the story that my bike wouldn't go over 80mph if I was clocked at faster than that.

Except that it limits your bike to 180kmh (112mph) which would still leave you up excrement valley without a propulsion tool.

All the best
