Hi all!

So I had an accident on my second bike at the start of July. Guy hit me, he assumed full responisbility, everything came off his insurance etc.

I also have my first bike still insured (cost more to cancel) and have just been sent a year of NCB.

I'm looking to insure my new bike. Do I claim to have a year NCB and not tell them about the accident that was totally not my fault?

You still have the years ncb as the accident wasnt your fault.

Oh nice. Interestingly I was on moneysupermarket and quotes were high due to the options regarding the accident not being as clear as on gocompare which resulted in much cheaper quotes.

That's with accident. I'm happy.

You will still have to declare you have had a none fault accident. But you should have a years ncb still.

After a non-fault accident you must inform your insurance company that the accident occured, the particulars of the accident and whether or not you were at fault.

Besides that, if the accident was entirely not your fault then yes you do retain your 1 years NCB.

However please remember that if you have an insurance policy that you declare and use your NCB on, you cannot claim ANY NCB on any subsequent policies, hence the prevalence of multi-bike policies.

Hope that helps. Thumbs Up!

Some insurance companies do load the policy even if the accident was not your fault. Someone hit my bike whilst it was parked in the street, no problem with the claim, even my insurance company had nothing to do with it. However, when i renewed it they loaded me 5% because of it. I told them where to go.
