Hi guys,
I've read that an NSR can get to 100mph (derestricted) but for the life of me it won't do it.....95 seems to be the limit of my wee bike. how can you break the 100 barrier on an nsr? (unless I find a massive hill and get the wind on my back)!

Cheers

Ride naked and have a good dump before you go out.

*dances*

I used to manage 100 just on my NSR, it involved a hill and a significant amount of ducking. It got there though.
Try for a tail wind as well Wink

Pre check list before breaking the barrier:

1: One dump....check
2: One birthday suit....check
3: Steep hill...check....
Tail wind and lotsof ducking..magic

Cheers

The best I've got out of mine so far is about 90. But I'm 6'4 and probably 14-15 stone, so its like attaching a large heavy airbrake to the bike....

My NSR is quite high mileage as well.

P.S. Lieing down on the tank seems to help a bit.

6'5, 15 stone...

105mph indicated on my NSR Cool

My advice is wear leathers and tuck in as much as possible.

Does that include a new front sprocket? I read somewhere that there's a tooth missing from the original one.

Oh yeah, it's here:

If it's not reaching the top of 6th, then upgearing will make it worse.

It's most probably just a bit old; have you changed the engine oil etc recently? Is it getting to the time for new rings etc?

I used to be able to get my old NSR up to 100 exactly on a flat road, but the top speed slowly decreased as the piston and rings wore out.

Hi G,
Can you explain what you mean by changing the engine oil? I regulary top up the 2 stroke and just last week changed the gear box oil. Any other oil I need to know about!?
Also what are the rings you talk about and how hard are they to change?

Thanks

Craig

I think G meant the gear box oil.

The 'rings' that have been referred to are the piston rings (part of the engine), if you don't know what they are you'll need to get a bike shop to change them.
They need to be replaced on the nsr roughly every 10,000 miles.

I'm going to change my gear oil tonight. I bought some the other day anyway, and the bike is seeming a little reluctant to change gear and go into neutral at the moment. Worth a go anyway.
