Stripped the carb down today and blocked up the SAI air intake on the manifold

Also came across this on the carb.. It's sucking when the engine is running and has baffled me and my dad Rolling Eyes

any ideas?

It's a MIKUNI 28mm Carb.

Well it looks like the vacuum fitment for a Scottoiler to me, never seen one fitted there before though?

Looks like the air vent to me.

I think they usually connect into the airbox where they sometimes have their own little filter.

Thanks for the input.. could be a few things in my book


Scottoiler fitment
Taking warm air back in through the carb out a crankcase breather
Something to do with the SAI [Secondary air injection] as this is off a Chinese bike.
or linking back to the airbox

As its a chinese bike its possibly the inlet for the air circulation crap that they put on the exhausts to cut power and limit emmisions

If its sucking air, block it with your finger or a suitable plug. If the engine tickover speed increases, leave it permantly blocked as it will cause a weak mixture. (Just as long as it isn't the vacuum fuel tap connection, then you will have no fuel flow).

Was thinking it looks like a vent but if it's sucking it's probably just to power the emissions valve.

Engine speed increases alot.. it raises to somewhat 4000 rpm from a 1200 idle it's a gravity fuel tap so it's all good

I blocked this off and the float bowl started leaking fuel out the sides and the bike kept cutting out

Anti stall?

Non the less the bikes running fine now with it left open
