Well, after reading 95Theses thread it struck me that being able to do your Mod 1 training on the exact DSA course where you were going to do the actual test was a brilliant idea so I got in touch with Metropolis today and booked my Mod 1.

I'm there on the weekend of the 1st & 2nd October - training on Saturday and training followed by Mod 1 test on Sunday.

The only problem now is that it seems like ages away, especially since I don't have a 125 to use in the meantime (decided to get through DAS before buying anything).

They did have weekday courses sooner but (A) I have precious little holiday left to take this year and (B) the weekday courses aren't done in the actual DSA test centre, only the weekend ones get that little perk.

So... <twiddles thumbs>

Personally, I don't think it matters about where you do your mod 1. The test is measured out and therefore pretty much the same wherever you do it. I practiced on a quiet road and put cones out in the figure of 8 and slalom layout. Passed first time. Practice til you get it right and you can do it anywhere. Plus I would hate to wait that long. I only waited a week for mine :s Why wait? If you think you can be ready sooner, go for it.

Well I don't have my own bike, so I can't practice in my own time.

I'll be using the school's bikes so while I can choose any school I want (and therefore choose one that can fit me in sooner) I'm not in a huge hurry so I thought I'd go with a recommendation for a place that seemed pretty good.

Plus even if I did find a school that could do it quicker, it would likely only be a little sooner anyway because I have to do it on a weekend (no days off left) plus I couldn't do it this weekend, I'm on holiday the two weekends after and away again the last weekend of September so it's a fairly narrow choice of dates I have anyway.

Plus metropolis use XJ6's for the tuition and test Smile

And so, a scant seven hours after posting this thread my mind has inevitably started wondering whether I should purchase a 125 "in the meantime".

It's like a brain worm, wriggling it's way to my wallet control cortex.

Nnnnggggg....

I wasn't sure about getting a bike before taking the tests, but when I saw the YBR with such a low milage, I couldn't resist it. I'm going to enjoy practising and building up my confidence between lessons.

I bought a bike before passing my test. It was more of an incentive to pass.

I've just noticed there are places that will rent bikes by the week for around £140.

I might do this for a week or two before the test.
