It seems the season is upon us, squished 2 of the big bastards within 10 minutes of eachother.

Now i dont really buy the fact that they are helpful and kill other bugs as a reason to keep them in my house on the count of i can sleep in a room with house flies, however i cant sleep knowing their is a spider in the room, other bugs i can tolerate but not spiders.

Is there any decent spider killers out thier, i cant really see chesnut extract doing anything.

done and done with the boot.

The first one was a fast bugger, dodged the shoe twice before i grinded him to dust.

But i dont actually want to be making this effort, would rather just spray some shit down and let them die.

heathen's, what harm are they doing to you
they eat bug's & flies that invade our homes, personally I love the little critters
my daughter on the other hand think there spawn of Satan

I've got a good sized woodsman in the corner of the studio and he's more than welcome
its like having a pet I don't need to look after, I can pick it up and play with it and let it go

Some people are scared of spiders, some arnt.

The irrational fear of them isnt learned its pre-programmed.

But as ive already said, i can live with flies, moths, ants, bees and wasps , no problem with them.

It's the UK you prune, not Australia or the tropical Third World. Our spiders are harmless and if they saw you they'd run away in fright. They don't even make a noise. Not like flies or wasps buzzing around.

Let em be you big girl. Either that or catch em, stick em in a glass and lob em outside.

couldn't agree more, I've yet to meet an animal that had me in fear of my life
I've handled 15 ft snakes, spiders as big as your hand (several species) 5 ft lizards, scorpions
there all cool and I love handling them, been in a wolf compound during a tagging session
no more scary than giving my dog (big German shepherd) her antibiotic's

I will never understand irrational fear I say bring it on the more danger the more I enjoy it

The spiders are doing a great job at eating the flies and wasps that are coming in my house, they live by the door and are of manageable size. Any bigger and they are evicted. I dont like killing them. Havnt seen a mega one in a while, the freak me out how fast they run and their legs Sick

found a big moth last week very unusual markings and huge body like a big grub but brown
released it out the back door totally unharmed and allowed to go on its way
mrs was even impressed with it, she's like me to an extent she lived with snakes in the house but drew the line at handling them

I found the mother of all house spiders last weekend. It was in the barn behind someone's project bus which hasn't moved for years. I only just saw it as I was reaching for the battery isolator...

I don't follow any religion but I try not to harm animals of any description like a Buddhist
not to say I'm not realistic I will kill an animal if I'm going to eat it (avid fisherman) or shooting rabbits
but I can't see any reason to kill an animal thats not a treat to me except flys
which I have no issue spraying with fly killer

When my cat was younger is was good at catching spiders,

But actually while i was freaking out at the spider last night, the cat was on my bed, it must of noticed whatever i was looking at was quite terrifying, so it jumped down to have a look too.

It just stared at it, i kinda shoed the cat with my foot to make it pounce but it didnt do anything, so i had to stamp the bugger (not the old cat)

Spiders in the house?

Clean more Razz

Or just man up and scoop them up and put them outside. Still dont get how people can be so scared of things like tiny spiders, mice etc.

Who's really the more scared? 2cm spider, or 1.7m+ human Laughing

I don't do the killing thing. Leave it be etc.

BUT wasps and more recently slugs have become my Nemesis(think that's right). They are Al-Qaeda They are Wogan They are Americans and must be exterminated. Wasps serve the world in a small but painfull way. Slugs are greedy and will slime over chippings to get to my Marigolds when there is grass a plenty to munch on.

Got a nice 'Big Boris' in my shed....Guaranteed a female free zone. Mr. Green

Hey,
I work in an Airline Stores where the temperature stays at a toasty temperature all year round. Some of the spiders in there are massive!!

I pulled a bin out of the racking the other day to find one on the wall the size of my bloody hand. I dare say i may have screamed like a girl Embarassed

Seen some very weird looking spiders in there too; not surprising as we get parts from all over the world.

Cheers,
Shaun R.

People that dont have a particular fear, find it very difficult to explain that to someone that isnt scared of it.

Even worse if said fear is a very irrational one like spiders.

I cant understand how people are afraid of heights, if you are dangling on a cliff edge, maybe thats scary, but being in a tall building ? i cant understand it.

people that are afraid of going outside, i cant understand either.

But i have sympathy, because if its anything like me with spiders, its terrifying.

So saying 'man up' really is irrelevent, a house spider is harmless.

If you asked me to put my foot in a bin full of them, i couldnt do it, however a tank full of great white sharks with a risk of losing your foot.
100% would rather do that.

But thats what makes it irrational, because im scared of spiders that doesnt mean im scared of everything in the entire world, infract quite the contrary really, id consider myself to be quite fearless with most things.

All of those things you've listed are cute and fluffy. You ever been toe to toe with anything genuinely dangerous?

Point taken about the UK. Nothing evil lives in the UK, except Conservatives.

Thought you gays may enjoy this little beauty I only learnt about today, called an Assassin Spider. Only eats other spiders. You should fill your house with these cute little buggers Wink

And it's amazing the amount of 'tough men' I have to stop from killing beautiful spiders because they are scared.

They had their fear, and 'overcoming it' in the manly sense is to annihilate the beast. Fantastic idea.

I do have a friend who tried to keep his phobia of moths very quiet, even during all the stoned times I fed his hamster them to freak him out... he still denied it.

One day he disappeared for a quick slash, 20 minutes later he's still not back. I go looking, and he's trapped in his bathroom slapping wildly at the air with a hand towel having been 'set upon' by a moth.

He keeps saying he wants to come out here too... fuck, the moths out here are bigger than my hand.

Borisbusters: the best spider-repellant out there.
Mr. Green Thumbs Up
(if I say so myself)

But ... it doesn't kill them, just keeps them away.

Obviously I forgot to Borisbuster my house before the onset of spider season!! - cos the big bugger which I thought the dog had eaten on Saturday night has just presented itself to me on the living room curtain this afternoon, so I had to get vicious with it) Evil or Very Mad

(chestnut extract is bollocks, by the way. Someone once told me (after I had bought a bottle of chestnut essential oil!) that they had a chestnut tree and it was FULL of spiders. So that's that theory out the window.

Spider season has kinda crept up on me a bit early, this year: seems like summer's not yet over, but the spiders are already out and about, usually I get freaky with them, around about mid-September. Puke
