I can't cope! I have to sell my beloved, sexy baby blade! How on earth will I cope????
Has anyone else had to make the ultimate sacrifice?
My daughter has been accepted at college and is moving out! In order to be able to finance her dream of becoming a Riding Instructor, I have to sell my bike!!!! It's a tragedy!
Currently - no man - soon, no bike! As of the 13th of September, no daughter and no horse! I am officially going to be a loner!!!! |

The money you will make from selling you baby won't in any way help towards the costs!
For me, it wouldn't even cover my tuition fees, let alone living costs, stationary, travelling expenses and the all essential beer money! ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

Has your daughter applied for a loan and assistance with fees.
If you are under the wage bracket then she should have a large proportion paid for her and the maximum loan available to her. ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

So the fact that my parents are struggling to put me through university to avoid me having to have a loan is a bad thing Shade?
I didn't have to attend university, I wanted to. It was a choice my parents made, they have invested a lot of money in me over my life time (violins, sheet music and instrumental tuition do not come cheap) and my Mum has always had to work to keep me in strings
In the long term they believe that higher education would benefit me, therefore they are paying for it. In what way is it any different IBITE sending her daughter to a college to study towards her chosen career. I believe it is far better than her being made to go straight into a low paying job she hates. Who knows, if she is sucessful, one day she may be able to buy her mother a daddy blade in return ____________________ Avast! Pirates ahoy!

I've been in a simular situation to you, and thats what I was trying to say but failed. But Shade does have a point, in short "Money Matters!" thats why I got a part time job to put myself through Uni. ____________________ <-- I'm taller than Charley Boorman look |

Basically, yes. I just hope you appreciate what they have done for you. Do you have a job?
Why do many people take extreme arguments on this board? So it's a bad thing, so you never speed, so you are always legal.....? There are a few people on here who need to learn more about debating.

Hang on, who made the choice?

Part of going to college, especially if you live away, is to learn how to look after yourself, including looking after money and supporting yourself, while still having a safety net.
Now I am not saying this is the case of anyone on here, but if you get everything done for you, don't need a loan, have a bike, don't have a job, and mummy and daddy pay for everything, how are you going to learn the value of anything, and how to look after yourself?
Now fair enough, IBite's kid is only 15, and therefore doesn't apply to this, but the job of a parent is to prepare the kid for the world, not to wrap them in cotton wool and send them out knowing nothing. Many parents do this, and it is not in the best interests of the kid.
