Call me crazy as I've not been to do my CBT or DAS yet but I saw a super clean, low mileage (6.3k) '06 Suzuki Bandit GSF 650 at a really great price £2.4k and decided to slap the deposit down on it rather than miss a bargain.

Here's the dealers E-bay listing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-GSF-650-2006-/290582880181?pt=UK_Motorcycles&hash=item43a816dfb5

He's only 5 or 10 miles down the road from me and it's £200 cheaper than the '03 Bandit 600 I'd been looking at in a showroom on Westgate Road plus the mileage is around 10k lower.

What do you guys reckon? Think it's as good a deal as I thought?

I'll be having an alarm/immobiliser fitted and then it'll sit in my mates garage and he'll keep the keys so I don't get tempted to take it out til I pass my test.

Wouldn't touch one myself, but I can't see much wrong with either the bike or the price.

Don't know why people have a downer on Bandits. I too have a 07 GSF 650 and think it's bloody marvellous, reliable, handles well and looks good. Surprised at Rogerborg 'people that live in glass houses and all that'......I had a Houniao as well from new and they are absolutely abissmal build quality, but wouldn't touch a Bandit.......no accounting for taste Shocked

...but even I wouldn't have a Bandit. Razz

My personal issue is that they weight a bloody ton and I can't get my feet down comfortably because of the fat seat.

At 6ft 3 and 19 stone I imagine the weight of the bike will be less of a problem than my weight will be lol.

I can get both feet flat on the floor comfortably and feel secure.

I haven't developed a bitterness against Suzuki in general and the Bandit in particular (YET but I hope not) which you have Wink

That's because you're a midget that won't acknowledge his buyer's remorse.

Seriously, GPZ 305>GSF650? Like fuck.

Apologies, its a perfectly decent first bike and looks like a very tidy example. Judging by the miles and the width of the chicken strips it has not been abused Thumbs Up

Can't quite remember saying that... The 305 is just until my restriction expires, then it'll likely be a ER-6, CBF600 or similar. Just not a Bandit. My point, which defies your odd quirks and remnants of wit, is that they're not for everyone - heck, the SV650S is 50kg lighter than an 650SA.

It's OK, the OP is a giant freak, so he'll be OK on his two wheeled bus. Wink

Looks like a tidy, clean low milage exaample for a very decent price. Make sure you check it over with somebody that knows about bikes and the engine doesn't sound like a bag of nails.

I can't really comment about Bandits with my at the moment empty garage Crying or Very sad

Just sold my gsf 650 2007 Bandit.Had a lot of fun with this bike.It is a good all rounder and perfect first bike. But you have to look after them because of the crap they put on the roads in this country during the winter.Especially the exhaust system where it joins to the collector box.the joint clamp rusts and so does the exhaust at this point so keep an eye on it. it is covered by the heat shield .Appart from that you will have loads of fun with this bike Very Happy Very Happy

If I just bought a Bandit to replace my bike I would go back in time then sneak beneath the final space shuttle launch so that I would be completely obliterated rather than ride it or even look at it.

But as a first bike, I would suck off Gordon Brown rather than ride my GS500 ever again, so swings and roundabouts really.

Nice example.

That's a pretty good deal, from a dealer Thumbs Up

Bandits are okay. I don't have much trouble riding mine round the outside of people on roundabouts with the peg on the floor. Sure they are a wee bit heavy and bumpy bends aren't fun but overall they are a great little bike especially for a first.

Anyone who thinks they are 'heavy' needs to go and ride a big bike from the early '80s then you'll be cured forever Very Happy

How do they compare to a 1983 GPZ9r ninja? That was the last bike I rode regularly.
