Theoretical question. I think, I've got this right. If I do a DAS I have to do the CBT, Mod 1 & Mod 2 all on the bigger bikes. None can be on a 125.

BUT, if I do a DAS and do the CBT and pass Mod 1 then fail Mod 2 all on the bigger bikes, can I then revert and do a later Mod 2 test on a 125 (obviously restricted for 2 yrs if I pass) without having to repeat the CBT and Mod 1 on a 125?

I would try and pass mod 2 on a bigger bike if I had done mod 1 on it to be honest.

But if you pass mod 1 and 2 on a 125 you are restricted for 2 years.

First question how old are you?

If you pass your mod one on a bike larger than a 125, you have to do mod two on the same size bike, if you fail mod 2 and then decide to do your tests on a 125 you must re-sit mod 1 on the same size bike.

A CBT depending on your age will either be done on a 50CC scooter type thing or a 125 geared bike.

Simple, like hell it is.

You do the CBT on a 125 not a DAS bike.

As for the other question. I suppose it is possible to do mod 1 on the DAS bigger bike and mod 2 on the 125.

Although why anyone would want to is beyond me.

Cost implications is about the only reason I can think of. You can ride your own 125 on Ls to the test centre, whereas you'd need to rent a big bike and have an instructor with you.

Is the correct answer.

CBT can be done on a DAS sized bike ie: 500cc

My age doesn't come into it. Very Happy I've had a car licence since Pontius was a pilot Laughing Nuff' said. Wink

The reason I ask is this. I'm doing a DAS 4 day course at the end of the month and it occurred to me that if I passed Mod 1 and failed Mod 2, I could possibly resit Mod 2 on my own 125 at a later date if that was allowed. It would just be simpler, since I could practice to cure any faults without having to go to the expense and bother of hiring a bigger bike and instructor.

The 33bhp restriction wouldn't bother me too much, I left the need for silly speeds or status behind many moons ago and only want to ride safely on a bike which can cope with modern traffic flows.

Of course all this is, as I said theoretical because I intend to pass .........but maybe, just in case like, I'd like to know Embarassed

Then save the cost of a DAS course and do Mod 1 & 2 on your 125?

Mod 1's only £15..... so no great saving not having to repeat it.

4-Day das is like what? £600?

You could get same amount of actual 'training' and a damn site more practice time, not paying an instructor for the legal requirement to watch over your shoulder while on a 'big bike' with L's, from perhaps four two hour lessons, and practice on your 125 in your own time. and save maybe £400 or more.

It's not down to simple economics though Mike. The DAS course is a father/son 'holiday' thing and I'm happy to spend the money on it. I was just looking at possible outcomes Smile

So, it's definite then, if you pass Mod 1 on a big bike but fail Mod 2 you couldn't 'keep' your Mod 1 pass and do Mod 2 on a 125? Doesn't make sense to me if that's the case. I can see it the other way round but where's the logic in it? And what if you passed it on a 'big' bike and failed on your 125? How sick would that be Rolling Eyes

You'll have to ask the DSA. Ask them three times, get three different answers, pick the one you want.
