 |
|
So I'm just going through some theory practise questions and one came up asking what to do if I broke down in a long tunnel.
Obviously the one that stuck out at me to answer with was "switch on your hazard lights", but that got me thinking "well my bike doesn't even have hazard lights" - so I answered with remain on the motorcycle (as it felt like the 2nd best answer).
Well needless to say that answer was wrong. The answer was infact the hazard lights one.
So I'm answering a question with an answer that I can't even do in real life (on my bike at least)?
But apart from that point, what would I actually do if I ever entered that situation? Put my indicator on? Stay on the bike? Get off the bike?
I know the answer that the theory test wants now, so that's okay. So I'm just wondering what I'd actually do if that actual situation ever occurred?

i broke down on the forth bridge (actually i'd left the bike on reserve when i last filled ) i pulled all the way over to the left leaned the bike against the barrier left the indicator and park llght on and jumped from the barrier (meter gap) to the walk way no way would i stay on the bike, people are liable to panic if they see someone on a bike stopped dead in a tunnel or on a bridge, ____________________ the humans are dead

+1 to the others. Get off the bike and over the barrier. I'd bung a left indicator on and get out of the way. ____________________ My Flickr |

Alright, that seem's sensible enough! Nice to know what I should actually do if this situation arose rather than just what the test says I should do. ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

I have had hazards fitted but also use this Amtech Mini LED Hazard light, has continuous or flashing hazard or continous white light so can double as a torch, came in handy when I got a puncture on the A34 south of Newbury & its small enough to go under the seat

Recovery guy said he spotted it from quite a distance back ____________________ The light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train! |

There's quite a few options out there then which I never realised were available - thanks for the insight guys!
I reckon that I'll wire up proper hazard lights to my future bike (when I get one I plan on keeping for a considerable amount of time! ) ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |

They really should re-word this question since not even all brand new bikes have hazard lights.
Getting on my hobby horse here...
I couldn't believe just how many stupid pointless questions there are in the theory test, god knows who thought up some of them, like the ones about "how much pollution is caused by vehicles" for instance, apart from the fact that no one can really say for sure, who gives a toss when it comes to being safe on a bike? Or the "why are trams environmentally friendly???" one, I mean in the extremely unlikely event I ever see a tram in my life am I really going to think to myself "Oh a tram! They are environmentally friendly because they run on electric"SPLAT!!!
Maybe we should make a list of the utterly stupid questions in the theory and start a Gov. Petition to get rid of them. ____________________ They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa, hey-hey,
