Undoing wheel nuts...

Right, having some problems undoing wheel nuts.

They're on a 1960 tractor.

I've WD40'd, soaked all day, had blowtorch on them.

Using breaker bars with long scafolding pole on the end, snapped the head off 3 of the breakers.

Right, so I try welding.

Drilled a hole through a 10 foot long hollow tube, put a 6 inch extension bar through it. Welded inside and out of the tube with the bar running though it. Went to turn it, welds came loose like it was pritt stick.

Tomorrow I'm going to try drilling though the tube and bar the other way, pinning it, but has anyone else got any ideas/experience?

I don't really want to weld directly onto the nuts if I can help it...

might be worth getting some plus gas as wd40 is shite haha

you'll probably have to chisel them off if they get destroyed by the impact gun

TBH unless you get a 1 inch drive 1500ftlb+ impact gun and a fuck off big compressor, it isn't going to be more powerful than a long breaker bar.

In the right hands you can get the nuts off without damaging the wheel with oxy acetaline.

How exposed are the nuts? You can get nut splitters but by the sounds of it these nuts are practically welded on.

Why do you want to keep the nuts? Replace them is going to be the most obvious thing I can say here.

I've helped do this a few times on tractors. The last ones we did we had a breaker bar (non ratcheted socket driver) about a meter long with a scaffold pole 2 meters long with 2 big blokes on the end of it. It still didn't shift. In the end we did the above but first heated the nut up till it glowed cherry red, found a socket that fitted the now expanded nut and it came loose with a hell of a crack

That wasn't me. That was your dad. Robs dad gets mega angry whilst driving. It is one of the funniest things. That tractor pictured has no brakes and when he is coming down the ramp he will say "whoooaahhh" like he's talking to a horse or something.

If you end up scrapping the nuts, use a set of nut-splitters.

I bet you can get replacement nuts no bother, cut almost through one or both sides and chisel them apart.
Old tractors like MF135 are surprisingly easy to get all manner of replacement bits like wheel rims and mudguards.

New nuts will be cheap. Few quid absolute maximum.

Nut splitter will crack the nut in half.

Firstly a big dose of man the fuck up will help
Get a penetrating spray. NOT wd-40, it's a water dispersant with a slight amount of oil in it. Plus gas is good, soak them a few times with it.
Try hitting the nuts with a hammer, it can help break off rust in the threads.
I've had to remove wheel nuts off tractors recently that have been bastards normally that sorts them, 1m breaker bar with 2m of thick walled 1" dia pipe job done.
If not heat them up as somebody said till they start to glow.
I would offer to give a hand buts its a treck lol.
If it all fails give me the make & model of the beast (old nuffield isn't it?) and i'll get you a price for new wheel nuts and possibly studs from work (should be able to get them cheap 'cos im an employee) If we can't get them for that exact tractor fetch the studs of nuts with you and we'll find some to fit.
