pft!
riding through dover saw the police suddenly change course and follow me, took them through a big housing estate just for a giggle riding normaly, then bam! they pull me over, start to moan about my speed and no tail light and no L plates and how i looked behind me when doing corners..
Im like hmm speed was fine.
No tail light it was fine when i left (which it was)
No L plates, i have a full license ¬¬
looking behind me ye there called life savers ¬¬ urghh
after like 20 mins of them doing checks they asked about a section 59 i had i stated it was on an old bike so they have nothing on me they eventualy crawled back in there car and drove off.
Seems pathetic pulling me and trying every offence in the book ¬¬ ____________________ GOOD GAME BODYGUARD: https://i.imgur.com/8WePGgf.jpg

Some police men/women are pricks and do everything they can to try and catch you out for something.. on a motorbike I guess it depends what your wearing and what kinda bike you are on.
Went out on my first day riding (on my own) and bumped into a police car (parked up opposite side) all he did was put his thumb up insinuating cool or nice one. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

I would think they were doing you a favour by telling you that you didn't have a tail light......would you rather be rammed up the arse by a cager with no lube

An obvious lifesaver may help point out to dozy cagers that you are about to do something though. ____________________ Triumph Daytona 675 track bike + girlfriend's Honda Hornet 600

I would imagine that the lack of a rear tail light will be why they pulled you over at first. If they thought your shoulder checks were you turning to look at them a lot, then that may have made them wonder why you were so concerned about them. A cop will always look at your bike, check your tax, PNC it, etc, while they talk to you. In their mind, if the tail light is gone, is anything else wrong too?
In terms of a Section 59, they do have something on you. It covers both you and the bike you were on. So if you are on a different bike and commit a further offence, they can still take it off you, so be aware. It lasts for 12 months, so if it was over 12 months ago, you are back to two strikes. |

My nearest miss so far was with a plod who rolled up to a roundabout signalling left in a clearly marked left turn only lane, then decided to Gene Hunt it straight through instead. No , cancellation of indicators, or negotiation with the chap on a bike (not quite) making the mistake of assuming that a car indicating left in a left turn lane was likely to turn left. Properly awful, about what I've come to expect from typical police drivers.
Anyway, I'm always very careful to keep a close eye on nearby plodmobiles, in case they suddenly hear about a sale on pies and doughnuts at the local Greggs. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

The only reason plod need to stop you is the want to check your documents for the vehicle.
As stated a lifesaver is a check that nothing is in your blindspot / immediate vicinity before you make a change in direction / turn. If you want to check for miles behind that nothing is trying a crazy overtake then personally I would go for mirrors. I certainly wouldn't want to negotiate a corner looking backwards.......
I'd say having no rear light on a bike is a pretty dim thing to happen and the OP came away lightly. Maybe he should be thanking the plod for saving his bacon ____________________ Current ride - Yamaha MT-07 |
