Might be slapping a deposit down on this friday - thoughts?

So I've spied a rather tasty GSXR750 a few miles down the road from me.

Already haggled them down to £2250 and they've said they'd offer ~£1000 for my hornet in part-exchange which I'll happily accept, naturally they want 10% deposit to hold it for me while I await my V5 coming back from the DVLA and for my credit card to get here.

What say the BCF masses? Good deal? Anything I should ask about/look for?

Looks pretty clean, FSH is a good bonus. I assume you've ridden it?

It's got everything I would look for in a bike. Exhaust, Crash bungs etc but my god it's ugly!

Seems quite highly priced though, there are a lot more below that will similar set ups.

Late 99/Very early 2000 registered one by the looks of it.

Mines the 2000 model, which isnt as "lumpy" as that one.

Personally, 750 is perfect It looks pretty damn clean and bonus with the history.

One the 0l0dom0l0 posted is a 2000 model the same as mine. Change over year I think... But still its the older 2000 model, you can get the sharper looking newer model for same price somewhere! Im sure!


Not much difference in the models though really..
Y model - 141hp, 199kg wet.
Your model - 134hp, 205kg wet.

So not too far off, but for that cas i'd hunt for a new shape rather than the 'big chubba'

Leave it a couple of months and I'd expect you could get massively better deals than that.
Even now, I'd hope for better.

I've seen GSXR1000s with after market fairings on offer for £2k in winter, so would be holding out for a Y/K model 750 at the least.
It's not exactly ultra low mileage etc either.

I'm pretty surprised, I've been looking at these bikes for the past few weeks and have seldom seen them go for much less for similar year/mileage so I thought I'd uncovered a fairly average deal......

Sure I can wait till next february when the roads are covered in ice and get a few hundred quid off and then let it sit in the garage till next august but where's the fun in that?

Unfortunately I'm pretty much going to have to go through a dealer on account of paying by credit card, a cash loan charges far too much interest to make it viable, I'd end up paying far far more then even the bike in the OP in the long run. I'm also put off by the prospect of travelling halfway across the country to find out someones been economical with the truth in their advert and it's a shit heap or something.

Hmmm dunno what to do then, the general consensus is that I'd be paying way over the odds, but I honestly can't see them going for much cheaper from what I've seen so far....

If the bike is right its always worth paying over the odds - after all it costs hundreds to bring a munter into decent condition. If it looks good there is a fair chance it has been properly looked after too...

Check tyres, pads, downpipes etc. You've got £600 to spend straight away if these are shot. If they are all good it may be worth it.
