Oh Dear, all the leafer-loons crawling out of the wood-work!
I was almost cought by THAT particular form of masocism, but then I discovered RANGE-ROVERs!
Coil springs and V8 engines..... wible!
Mind you, I do have 'pangs', following Mal down a twisty scratchy green lane in his SIII tarp-top, waggling levers like a loon, bouncing about like crazy, grinning all over his bonce, while I wafted along behind him, V8 grumbling along, auto-box, torque-converter & Vicouse Centre Diff sending it where needed, big boingies pushing it to the surface..... made it all seem TOO easy... but OH-SO-Deliciouse!

Welcome to another form of lunacy. Just remember, you WONT start to suffocate if you go over 55mph; but of you have mastered the idioscyncracies of the Fairy Over-Drive, and the crunch-box, the co-ordination for riding a motorbike should be a breeze!

That's mine; "Wheezil the Deezil" She was 2 1/4 aga-engine, LWB 109, 3-door, 'countied' as SWB with four benches in the back for the kids, complete with rally harness's to stop them falling out when we were tilted to angles that smashed the wing mirrors on rocks on the foor! Had Fairy O/D, but with over two tons of metal in it, and less power than a mini!? I DID hit 70, ONCE, on a VERY long, VERY steep hill in Derbyshire! Or at least that's what the kids tell me, they were all jumping up and down in the back, calling the speedo reading, URGING it to go that bit faster...... I was sweating, intently gripping the 12" Metro steering wheel, that actually let me get my legs under it! And Saying 'prayers' to the Wilkes Brothers, that the 'laughably' Servo-Unasisted drum brakes would slow us down again at the bottom!

It was a Wonderful motor; but JEEZ was it hard work to drive!

Used to take it Green-Laning, and between times, hauled my trials bike to and from events;

Think I just like getting muddy!

Gah! (insert line of swearing here)

dumbest "improvement" they ever made to a range rover.. I can almost forgive the autobox for seeming to have a Window-Licker level IQ but the VCD seems to exist only to screw up and break other stuff while I try to find ~£500 to have it replaced. Sad

Oh! One of THEM kind of Series II's!
A CLEAN one!
THAT'S not a 'Land-Rover'! - It lacks all the distinguishing characteristics.... the rusty bulkhead, the floppy door tops..... the dents in the rear tub panels...... different tyre treads on all four wheels, the cobwebs in the windscreen hinges, and the LR part number Spider, sitting behind the sun-visor!
The Disco lurking in the back-ground... now THAT looks FAR more promising!

Nope..... My First RRC was an '85 Chysler Auto 4-door.... supposed to be tough as they came.... it wasn't. But it was 'nice'
Had two 3.9's, both with visco's not had a problem with them.
So many that have reported failures, normally seizing, SEEM to be pampered tarmac only cars... seems if they seize through lack of use, more than anything, fundementally 'wrong' with the unit itself.

Stoopid'est 'improvement' was fitting 'Halogen' headlamps.... yup they do chuck out a bit more light than a drunken glow worm... but just WHICH bright spark decided to use the MINI headlamp reflector with the integral side-light..... and stick in the worlds most PATHETIC 'bung' to keep the muck out!

Yes, when I have to clean my headlamps, I have to clean the INSIDE, not just wipe over the lense!

lol that's the cleanest she has ever been. Just finished rebuilding her, the discovery in the background is going to be the donor vehicle for the 200tdi conversion I am planning next year.

Unless of course I sell it and buy something else like, I dunno maybe a motorbike... didn't someone mention there was a motorbike forum around here somewhere. Confused
