Righto

So you've robbed a bank single handedly.

Run outside to escape on a motorbike that is parked up waiting for you. What bike is it?

What would you go for and why?

Perhaps something capable of going offroad? Or perhaps a busa for out and out speed?

Is the helicopter available?
You won't outrun it so a moped that will fit through little gaps and easily go into almost any building would be better to hide.

It is but takes 4 minutes to get above the scene. You might be long gone by then.

Something extremely common, like a CBR600F/RR ZX6R etc...

Ride one of those somewhere busy and there will be lots of bikes to hide in broad day light in. Just head straight for restricted airspace like the airport helicopter is neutralised.

You know on a boring holiday to Cornwall with the ex, we went to Falmouth once. And I remember that there were budget cuts so that the police helicopter was cut and the force would share one with Plymouth instead. So if you had a typical 1000cc bike, you could rob the HSBC in falmouth, then maybe have time to knock over the Barclays. Then go ride the A38 fast as you can the helicopter won't even have time to respond....

Or you'd ride it off the pier into Falmouth bay and have some scuba gear underneath and swim to flushing across the bay underwater and ride off on something like a CBR.

S1000RR or an R1.

Head straight for the motorway and pin it!

1) Dirt bike, somewhere around the 450cc mark. They'll fit through pretty much any gap that a ped will in town, will be as quick as a Busa through traffic and the off road ability would mean you could take them into the arse end of the countryside and get them switched off, hopefully before the helicopter got overhead and spotted the heat source.

or

2) Pizza moped from either Dominoes or Pizza Hut if I was in the middle of London, in an attempt to blend in. In the worst case, you could always pick the thing up and throw it at your pursuers to buy a few moments more of time if desperate...

S1000RR with some extra fuel tanks maybe.
Because it's pretty fast and has fancy gadgetry so you don't have to pay quite so much attention.
Turbo, maybe, to give a better chance of outrunning the choppers.

Off road in England tends be a bit limited by hedge rows and fences etc.

A student of mine a few years ago was back in for a CBT and retest after having been sent to prison for doing some eye watering speeds down the A272 on an R1; was a bit of an eye opener in that it showed no matter how quick you're going, you're not going to outrun a chopper unless you get lucky. The video was a bit Shocked

I'm surprised no one has said this yet but my weapon of choice would be this:

https://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad233/chris-bracey/turbo/IMG_5319Medium.jpg

Why? Well its simple really. They'd never catch me for the first few miles until it runs out of fuel or blows up, whatever happens first and its registered to Chris so by the time they catch up to it I'll have ran away and they'll come looking him. Laughing

Hypothetically he would come full circle.. albeit at +200mph.

Out of interest, where are you putting all this money? I mean you are robbing a bank, you would be hoping to get a few hundred grand right? The most money I have held is about 5k in 20's, and that was fairly big, so I imagine a few hundred thousand isn't going to fit in a rucksack very easily.

Therefore I guess something like a r1200gs with top box and panniers Laughing Not the best for getting through traffic with it all, but you could equip it with bigger fuel tanks, it is capable off road, although that probably wouldn't get you very far in England. Thinking Actually that's a poor choice, obvious is something for speed and hit the motorway, any litre sports bike will out run most things on the road. So one of them, and don't take so much money...

A typical crotch rocket but make sure the bank is near a motorway close to Donnington on a race day.

Control Room: You're looking for a green sports bike with a pillion passenger travelling at high speed.

Would depend on luck really... once the police 'copter has you, you're fucked. If you have a few patrol cars behind you, especially traffic plod in an M5 or something, you better hope there is a long stretch of motorway with some convenient junctions so they don't pick you up somewhere ahead.

I think it'd have to be a Super blackbird for a good balance of rediculous top speed, large tank range, luggage carrying cpapcity, reliability and the ability to blend into the crowd.

If it was a soley in town getaway. Possibly a road going trials bike like a gas-gas on the basis that you could make a clean getaway down some stairs, through a park , over the top of a line of stationary cars or similar.

City centres and motorways are completely covered by CCTV, 'they' dont need the copter to track you.
Therefore, you must head for the nearest A road out of town and then onto B roads. Large tourers, no matter how fast, would be a handfull on busy or narrow roads. But you do need carrying capacity and anonimity, so no loud pipes or dayglo sports bikes.
Something to get you away quickly, then loaded easily into a Sprinter / Transit van.
You then drive away at normal speeds looking like Bob the Builder until you get somewhere very quiet, set fire to the lot so no forensics, then drive off to sunny of Spain in a nice Audi.

Suprised it hasn't been said already but prob a VFR800. It blends in, is easy to ride/filter on, has luggage capacity and is a nice compromise between 600/800cc sports bikes.

it'd also tear up A and B roads very nicely where some of the modern harder sprung sportsbikes will bounce a bit more.

Saying all that though, if I wanted to rob a bank now the easiest way would be electronically.
