Clunky gear changes?

hey all,

I been getting clunky gear changes, no matter how tight or loose i adjust the chain, Mainly going down the gears at high revs,
could it be time for new chain and sprockets?
had the bike about 8 months now and never changed them so not sure how long they have been on the bike,
I have done about 5k on them and i ride it hard pretty much all the time,
Am i on the right track,

Its a 2000 r6, and i have already tried slightly heavier oil and it made hardly any difference!

Does the chain pull off the back of the rear sprocket by more than about 5mm?If it does then it may well mean that you need a new chain.Whenever I have fitted a new chain and sprocket set,which is recommended,the differance is chalk and cheese.

A friend with a Yam R6 fitted some lightweight 520 size chain and sprockets and they wore out really quickly.He went over to a quality 530 size and has yet to need to adjust it after 8k miles.

Hmmm, its got a 530 chain on it already, tbh i cant really see any visible signs of wear and tear!

I have the same problem ages ago but that was with my old 5eb gearbox
