Tough break (ho ho), glad you're still walking though. Milk the nobber for every penny.
1) Did you get witnesses?
2) And come on, get some proper cager hate going. Woman or furriner? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

!
Not quite.
Basically, I was at the front of the que at a set of red lights on a roundabout. Traffic was emerging from my left onto the roundabout (which was also controlled by lights). My lights went green, checked left, no traffic.
I was going straight on, so was in the middle lane. Next thing i know, bam, car infront and i had nowhere to go. I hit the rear drivers side wheel, bike toppled forward ontop of me and i ended up facing the other way with a klr650 on me.
I scrambled out from underneath and saw the driver turning and going around the corner of another exit, so i got up and ran like a mofo. Caught up and the stupid **** was screaming at me.
So anyway i went back to check on the bike and this awesome bloke was picking it up for me, he later ended up calling my old man and being generally great. An american guy was also there, we ended up talking about his brother who came off his KTM and having metal in his leg. ouch! Top bloke.
Anyway yeh arms okay, stupid pain whilst sleeping and only getting a few hours sleep a night with alot of painkillers. Insurance offered me a hire bike but i dont want to risk the charges incase. She has one witness who is a total bike hater as he rolled up 5 minutes after the accident and told me im an idiot for owning one. (I kept my calm, impressed with myself tbh).
So im spooked about it as i was frantically looking for a witness but everyone just drove off. Theres some cctv but its covered by the trees on the roundabout.
So yeh. Off work at the moment and kinda waiting to see what happens.
The bike! Nearly forgot.
Not much damage, its a klr650 afterall, and it landed on me.
The gear shift is bent in (hammer should sort it), and little things like the speedo cable and plastics are a little damaged. But all seems straight. So tomorrow im going to attempt to get it back. Ill let you know how it goes. Insurance seem pretty confident about my claim, but the silly bint i crashed into didnt once ask how i was, she just screamed in my face. So i have no qualms about milking her insurance.
Just hope it goes my way considering the nature of evidence and stuff. Uh. |

RTA 1988 Section 170.
The requirement is to give name, address and insurance details to anyone who has reasonable grounds for asking, and if not done at the scene to report it to police within 24 hours.
In a way, it'll be better if the dizzy bint (can I call em or what?) did refuse to give details at the scene. Get down to the cop shop right away with her registration number and description and cite Section 170.
If she did give details at the scene, then they won't give a stuff, even if she attempted to escape. There's no clear offence except TC10 (traffic signal) or Due Care and Attention, no cold body, and I'm very sorry but without witnesses or footage Plod and the CPS are very unlikely to touch it.

Given her attitude, her story will be that she looked left then right then left again, went through a clear green signal, then this crazy biker wheelied through the red with tyres smoking, ran over a pram full of kittens, then smashed into the side of her while screaming "DIE, BITCH, DIE!"
Also: ouch, her neck hurts.
Mr Hitler, you might want to get on to T.C. and see if he can drop the vague generalities and recommend a specialist firm of solicitors, since your own insurers won't much care. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Bad luck on being taken out by a stupid cager
Witnesses are you friend and as such should be hunted with the verocity of a great white. I would be getting a mate to take me back to the roundabout and looking for any form of CCTV evidence, red light camera and CCTV on ajoining buildings. I would get some signs made up detailing when the accident happened and asking witnesses to contact you (cheap pay as you go phone). Chances are people behind you travel that way most of the time so will hopefully help you.
Without witnesses it just becomes a 50/50 because you can't prove that she came through a red light, in fact her witnesses is going to say it was green so unless you can prove otherwise then it's going to be a long slog. ____________________ Current ride - Yamaha MT-07 |
