DIY undertray/tail tidy?

Been thinking of making an undertray for my 1998 CBR F3.

I'm not bothered about the light section that can make the shotgun look, just to cover all the gubbins under my seat, and also to hack off the rest of my reg plate holder.

I'm thinking of buying some 5mm A3 sized clear perspex for £7 off eBay, cutting it to size with a dremel, vinyl wrapping it, then bolting it down.

I have a bracket already that my plate can go on to, and also the indicators, this can then be bolted to the undertray.

I've never seen this done before and it seems so simple.

Anything I should watch out for or change?

Can't find much of that material you mentioned, the stuff I can see is about £30 which is pretty much the price of an undertray.

I've seen this which might be better, it's already in black but only 3mm, not sure if this would be solid enough...

3mm seems a tad thin to me.


The material itself will be alright though if you can find it a bit thicker.

What I would do, but am in no way suggesting you should do is nick a road sign and use that. They are normally 3mm sheet aluminium and would be perfect.


Also consider sheet aluminium sourced in a more honest means, it is fairly easy to shape with normal hand tools and would be strong enough and resist flexing/cracking etc.
