I've just been up to my local Budgens, there was a chap in there with absolutely rancid BO.
He stank so bad, that i could tell what aisle he'd just been down by the lingering stink.
Sick

I used to work with a bloke who was just as bad - you could tell where he'd been by following the stench. Wherever he'd been in the building, it would take about 5 to 10 minutes before the smell subsided.

What is it that goes through these people's minds? Do they never wash? Have they never heard of deodorant?

(As i've previously mentioned numerous times) I spent a lot of time over in S.Korea - there deodorant is considered 'unmanly' and like perfume. Everyone also eats a diet high in garlic, consequently getting on the underground on a hot summer's day frequently brought tears to my eyes.

Over there it's a 'cultural' thing, and everyone stinks. But over here, it's just not acceptable. Have a fucking wash, you stinking bastards.

Mad

There are a lot of smely, filthy, dirty people out there. We used to go through sooo much air freshener in the shop it was unfunny.

So glad I'm no longer in contact with the general public for work!

Even after a few days of not showering or using deodorant I don't smell, I have asked, so god knows how long these people go for without bathing. The norm for myself and most others is to shower every day. So easy, so simple.

As the nearest branch of Waitrose is about 10 miles away, it's not exactly a local shop for local people.

Are you local?

We got them in the shop I worked in.You'd have thought that you'd not want to go out if you smell as bad as some of them.
The same people week in and week out would come in stinking to high heaven so it must just be that they don't give a shit at all.

There is a guy in my work and he is fucking reekin!!!!

Honestly, as soon as he starts a shift (he starts 8am - I was working since 4am), he is stinking. I can only assume he doesn't get washed.

What makes it worse it that he uses the same working clothes everyday and doesnt wash them.

(Our work washes our clothes for us so there is no excuse for dirty/smelly clothes).

And we are bakers so it is generally a hardworking physical job which makes you sweat an awful lot each day.

Today he came in and I was working at the other end of the bakery. I did not see him at first but I smelt a stench of BO. I quickly gave my own armpits a quick discreet sniff but it wasn't me and then I spotted him walking past.

Me and my mate speak about him in Polish right in front of his face because he does not understand what we are saying. Maybe we should speak in English so that he takes the fucking hint and does something about it.

This was todays conversation: "On jest kurwa śmierdząca. Pierdole, on pachnie jak mokry pies".

Surely he must know that he is stinking... Rolling Eyes

Dude, come down with a virus like encephalitis, and have ammonia pouring out of every sweat gland on your body for a week or two, so everything stinks of ammonia. After you recover, the first proper man sweat you have makes that sweaty underarm stink smell like heaven.

I hate the idea of having BO. Never know how people can't smell it!

You can always tell which people are going to smell before you serve them...I've started closing my till making them go to someone else.

When I was at school one of the girls a few years below mine was apparently allergic to deoderant and absolutely stank, especially in the summer time Sick You can even get natural stuff to combat the smell if you are allergic to any of the ones that come in spray or stick form. Hell, you can even get super special ones for people who are undergoing chemotherapy and its not advised to use the normal ones. Or have a damm wash more than once a month.

Its just not on! They may not be able to smell themselves but everyone else can.

I rarely use deodorant but don't smell .....regular baths and clean clothes are usually enough to not smell like I climbed out of a cows arse.

A strong smell of deodorant makes me physically ill and if it's strong enough, gives me a full-on migrane which leads to me being unable to see.

I'd take BO any day over standing next to someone who'se given it the full on "lynx effect".

Teenage boys are worst, giving it the Italian shower before they go out for the night.

On the rare occasions I go into Boots the chemist, I have to hold my breath until I've got safely to the back of the shop away from the perfume counters.

I wish people would show some consideration and not pollute my airspace with noxious chemicals. I find it totally unacceptable.

You would not like it at my house.
My eldest lad is 12, he has just discovered Lynx. He sprays so much that the cloying chemicals pollute the whole entire house.

It's two sides of the same coin, but i'd rather be able to actually taste Lynx than the sour reek of the chap in Budgens earlier.

Not pleasant.

Not really. I suspect a strong smell of BO doesn't temporarily rob you of your sense of sight, no matter how bad it is.

I think it is also possible to wash too much and certainly to use too much soap.

People used to have a bath once a week and somehow remain fairly fresh. Your skin has a stable population of bacteria on it which are supposed to be there. I'm totally convinced that it's washing too often that causes the smell by disturbing that population.

If you shower twice a day, you HAVE to shower twice a day BECAUSE you shower twice a day. You wash off all the bacteria that are supposed to be on your skin and radically alter the pH of your skin. All of which encourages an overgrowth of the first bacteria that gets in there and you stink again within a few hours.

I have shower once every two to three days depending on how dirty I am. I don't use deodorant and I use a minimum of soap based products on my skin, mostly washing with hot water unless I'm physically dirty. I don't stink because I have a stable population of skin microflora.

If I'm smelly between times it's usually my clothes rather than me and I change them.

I keep meaning to complain to Shell about their staff at Beaconsfield motorway services, every time I go into the petrol station there I almost vomit from the smell of B.O from the cashiers, doesn't matter if it's in the morning or at night. Tesco can be very bad on night shift too when they're stacking shelves, some aisles are no go areas because the smell is so strong I feel like i'm going to be sick. I'd take a cloud of Lynx over B.O any day.

Hot bath every night, no soap, nothing. When I wash my hair (once a week, if that) I shower afterwards. Same for the rest of the family. Sweet as roses, the lot of us. Laughing

A lot must be to do with your clothing though.

Have a shower, put on a Helly Hansen thermal top and you'll be stinking to high heaven within a couple of hours. Put on a morino wool thermal top and you can wear it for a week and still smell fresh.
