hey guys, Just been trying to fit the restricting washers in my sv 650. Bit of an arse of a job but i got them in there eventually (After having to retreat to shelter every time it rained Rolling Eyes )

Problem is, put it all back together, went to start it and it sounded like it was just running on what was left in the carbs, as if the fuel was turned off. tiny blip on the throttle and it cut out and wouldn't start again. I sat on it to get it upright to see if this would help get fuel in there, heard a couple of sounds of life but i fear the battery may be going flat again.

So heres what i did.... I put the washers between the carb and the inlet rubber to the engine, that bits right (I think Shifty )
Everything was put back together, airbox with a bit of swearing went back on the carbs, carbs went back with reasonable ease sooo...

What have i done wrong???? Could it just be the battery going flat? If so, is it ok to jump it off a car battery?
Cheers Wink

Check the fuel and vacuum hoses weren't trapped /kinked when you refitted the tank and the vacuum is connected carb and tap ends. Put tap on Prime next time you try to start it to fill the bowls and rule out vacuum problem then switch it back to On to see if everything carries on running as it should.
You can jumpstart from the car battery, don't start the car engine just use the battery, a 12volt battery is a 12volt battery the bike only takes what it needs you can't "overcook" it or whatever.

Apologies for the delay, i've been working and playing on the bike Twisted Evil

Basically your comment about the fuel lines did the trick, theres a pipe coming out of one of the carbs that looked like it should've been connected to 'a bit in the tank' Laughing but the pipe was just too short so obviously wasnt connected when it was running.
So i charged the battery, tried again still nothing.

The sidestand switch is a tad faulty, they said that in the shop when i bought it sooo.......
Got down on the floor, pushed the switch in, got my uncle to press the starter and .......It Lives! Mr. Green

Is running well, although i didnt think it would drop the top speed that much, only had it up to 90 and that was it Confused But, its better than the 350, at least the engine's not being overly stressed at that point Very Happy

And the noise it makes.... Ohhhhh the noise Twisted Evil

The SV has a fuel warning light. It blinks irritatingly when you're down to 3.5L left. When you're down to your last litre it goes solid orange.

Your big rubber button has the odo and 2 trip counters, A & B.

Press the button to switch between Odo, A and B.

Hold the button down to reset A or B to zero, if they are the currently displayed counter. You could use A to count miles between oil changes or whatever and B as a conventional trip counter.
