Hi

Anyone know about guns... pellet (BB) guns to be precise.

Want to get something easy to use (robust) for me to target practice with my son...

Any info would be helpful

Thanks

Don't want to spend more than £50 (I'm sure I might have too tho)

Either pistol or small shot gun...

This kinda thang . .

A pellet gun and a BB gun are different things. Pellets have much better range and accuracy. I'd say a BB gun is accurate to about 10-15 meters, pellets up to 100m with a rifle.

BB guns can also fire plastic BB's (airsoft) and get be bought as electric automatics. Pellet guns are generally manually powered using something like an under lever. So depending on how old your boy is he might not be able to cock a decent one.

Buy one second hand out the paper or something.

Except that the one linked does both pellets and BBs Smile
Not amazingly accurate, but ok for a mess around - I've got a 2005 (similar model).

On that, actually... welcome to borrow it if you want MissEd.

It say's metal BB's which threw me a little...

It's just for fun, so accuracy doesn't mater. Simplistic, but hard wearing is what I want.

That is really kind of you G ... I'd worry about it getting lost

I had one of those. Annoyingly inaccurate (12" spread at 10 foot) - the barrel is actually just the last inch and a half (up to the first line behind the sight.)

From that site, I'd go for the rifled .177" version of this :-

The G2005 version is a bit better - about twice the length of the barrel.

Definitely not up to a proper air pistol for accuracy at distance, but the bb repeater bit is good for general fun.

Oh and with kids around, probably best to make sure you know where an air pistol is kept, but <shrugs>, the offer's there Smile.

The G10 does not fire Pellets (BB's only)

I had a one of these when i was younger

https://www.solware.co.uk/air-pistol-air-rifle/metal%20bb%20repeater%20shotgun.jpg

Accuracy was alright up to about 50 meters (could hit a tin can is you were lucky).
The pump action was easy to do.

Obviously metal BB's bounce and aren't kind to eyes, so don't go shooting any walls at close range!

I should imagine that's very true of modern air guns, i suspect restrictions on power have been brought in since my uncle bought that gun of his that i've used. He also has a gas powered one he's never let me near Laughing

Go for an air rifle.

One I got years ago cost £40. It was new, some chinese thing, but it's pretty good and seems "bulletproof".

Thanks G.... I am just not one for using other peoples things.

It would be mine and very much hidden away Smile

The one you have is the one I first looked at. Fun is all we want.

Thanks for the info

Haha, get the AK i think!
The shotgun was okay, but loading took a while as you had to put each BB in one at a time. Also the automatic safety coming on meant you couldn't just pump and shoot without reaching round every time.

How old/big is your boy MissEd? Typical rifles, and that AK47 you've linked, have a length that means it won't be much use to a youngster. My boy is nine and still can't shoulder his air-rifle.

My dad got me that shotgun one when I was about 9, I found it recently and the build quality is horrible. You pump it and the whole thing twists.

For young kids I would say pistols are better than rifles. We also had a walther c02 ppk that was great fun, but depending on age and how sensible he is I wouldn't get one.

Go to your local market / weird and wonderful shops.. (No, not those kind Wink )

I got a BB gun a few years ago for £10 or something, it's metal and does the job, especially for a kid! Thumbs Up

Also hurts like a bitch when your mate gets it and shoots you from 2 metres away Thumbs Up

Can't believe the thing still works, just got it out for a play Cool

Haha

Thumbs Up

Not hard to reload, but yes running costs are a pain, I think its a tenner for 4 C02 canisters, can't remember how long they last though...
