Thinking about buying one of these from Halford's so I can charge my sat nav on long journeys.

https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_753223_langId_-1_categoryId_165562

Is It as easy as plugging the positive wire on the positive part of the battery and vice versa?

Yes.

You can buy the kind kemshell has linked from most car places, motorworld, halfords, even caravan places etc.

If it doesn't have a fuse built in it's easy enough to cut the live wire, crimp female spade connectors on and fit a 10amp blade fuse into the spade connectors, do this before you connect to battery of course.

The biggest problem will be locating it, my sat nav charger is quite long and everywhere I wanted it caused problems, it's now under the seat and takes up what little storage I had under there, also have to remove the seat to plug it in Sad

To do it properly you should maybe tap into a live on the bike that only becomes live when the ignition is switched on, rather than go straight to the battery, I was going to fit mine to the ignition live but don't know whether I'd have to uprate the fuse and to be honest can never be arsed, straight to battery took a couple of minutes

Optimate (or the company that make them) make some good quality adaptors etc, usually found on ebay for about a tenner.

You can wire it straight to the battery, but don't leave any accessories plugged in or the battery'll go flat.

Plenty of Amazon, just do a search.

you can run a set of cables straight to the battery. with the kit from halfords you will need to add some more wire and ring terminals to connect straight to the battery.

i have installed a simple relay circuit so that the charger goes off when i turn the ignition. plan to add heated grips later so saves the risk me leaving them on and being left with a flat battery.

stinkwheel did a guide a little while ago, about putting in this said relay.
