Story is - (as in another of my posts, but not to dredge up old threads...)

*The bolt holes on my cylinder block, where the exhaust bolts onto, had Helicoils fitted and they are now knackered.

*the holes have already been re-tapped twice, upto 10mm, and not a very good job done so not able to do again.

*I have got another block with 'original' holes which are 6mm;

*problem is, the holes on the exhaust have also been drilled - to 10mm.

How is the best way to fit the exhaust back without re-tapping the block/buying new exhaust and to cut out the vibration?

I have been advised to get some tapered/countersunk bolts, so that they 'dig' into the exhaust and pull into the cylinder block.

Any other ideas?? I need to get this damn thing going again Sad

Just fit it as it is... then fill the gaps with exhaust sealant? gun gum or something.. just get the exhaust set in there as square as you can and fill the rest of the holes/space around bolts.

What is the exhaust flange like?
You say flange holes have been drilled out for bigger studs; how mcuh metal is left around them?
Can you not use big penny washers, possibly a couple over them?
Can you not get the holes welded and re drilled?
Can you not split the pipe; slip the flange off and fit a new one?
Pics? Give us better idea where the problem lies?

Teflon - pics to follow, but was thinking about a few washers option. I'm putting spring washers on anyway along with new gasket and gasket sealant (on the gasket itself) probably be ok but I'm a worrier Crying or Very sad
