On Friday I had a bit of a rant on a couple of threads, where I was somewhat churlish and curt.

To those who it appeared to be aimed at, would you please accept my apologies

On Thursday night into Friday morning my garage was burgled and £30,000 worth of tools were taken, and then to make matters worse, on Friday afternoon some tosspot decided to put a dent down the side of my Jag which I have had from new and always keep pristine and mark free.

I was caught in the wrong frame of mine and set of on a rant.

It was immature and unprofessional, and so please agan accept my apologies. I hope that those who know me will have realised that it was out of character.

When you lose tools it's always worse than you first realise as you think about all the ones you use all the time.....it's only when you need something weird and out of the ordinary that you realise that went too Sad

T.C, how about a description of the older rarer tools. Also the tool chest, was it a bog standard red one? limited edition one? any identifying marks/scuffs/dents etc?

Don't know where you are in the country, but it could be worth people around your way keeping an eye out at car-boot sales or local classifieds/gumtree and the like.

I feel for you though! I only have a smallish toolbox crammed full of halfords pro stuff (probably about 300quid of tools all in) and I'd be livid if that went missing, so I can't imagine how tough it is for you!

When my old man was in engineering, he had about 15grands worth of snap-on tools which he frequently carried around in his van. He defaced every tool he could by grinding the snap-on logo off and etching his initials on them. His argument was that if someone stole them, they'd be worth fuck-all to sell as there was no-way of knowing they were snap-on and it didn't matter to him that the snap-on logo was missing as he bought the tools and knew what they were. Funnily enough, not a single tool was borrowed and not brought back. Not sure how it would've stood him with regards to the lifetime warranty, but the nature of snap-on tools meant he never had to find out.

Sorry to hear that, hope it all gets sorted.

On a separate note, in a previous job i spent several days at Snap-On's UK headquarters (working on interfacing mobile printers with their portable diagnostic machines).
The whole place was just tool porn everywhere, and i spent most of my time there sporting a semi-lob with a runny nose.
