Dude, are you kidding? BSB is awesome, family orientated, loadsa shopping, there'll be a fair for the kids, loads of bikes to check out, cracking atmosphere, and the racing will blow you away. Once you've seen Josh Brookes go over the Mountain you'll wonder if you'll ever look at a bike the same way again.

I'll be there Sunday. Have to work Monday, so chuffed there's racing on the Qualifying day. Check out https://www.britishsuperbike.com/default.aspx

It'll be very, very busy. The August BH always is.

You'll probably get burnt if the weather's half decent too. Laughing

Cadwell's not the best for facilities, but there's still loads to do there and plenty for the kids.

If you want to camp you'll need to be quick - camping is always limited at Cadwell unless a nearby farmer is wanting to make a few quid...

BSB is great for kids. We have a 'dads & lads' weekend each year and this time we are doing Cadwell BSB - arriving on Saturday, pitching tents then going to the coast for fish & chips and the beach. Back for a barby that evening then 2 days on't Carlsberg Export whilst the nippers muck about climbing trees, racing shopping trolleys and generally enjoying themselves in the sunshine... Can't beat it for good old-fashioned family entertainment!

A couple of years ago we did Croft and I managed to get the Berlingo on the track for a lap after the racing. One of the track vans was the same colour so we thought they wouldn't mind... The kids were a little suprised to see the dads hooning past, never mind the staff. Good on them though a couple came over afterwards and congratulated me on my lines!

Does anyone know if you can turn up on Friday to pitch tent/caravan? I will then have to go to work and come back Saturday evening with the missis. Won't be able to get there on Saturday until after 6pm and want to make sure we get a decent pitch.

Not been to Cadwell...yet.

My daughter thinks we're just going camping in Lincolnshire with a bit of sightseeing. Tee-Hee....

Shame we can only stay for the 1st Superbike race on Sunday.

We're booked on a site about 30miles away. £10 and quiet.....until my Ducati arrives. Mr. Green

Just had a look at the website -

Online bookings no longer available and I'm working on Saturday morning until 12:30. I'm thinking of maybe heading down on Sunday and paying the £15 on the gate. Just printed off the timetable. Sunday could be grand.

Got stuff through from Cadwell yesterday. All the on-site camping is taken now but they provided a link to other sites nearby:

Haha! Laughing

They let us do that at Brands once, it wasn't BSB. Cruising round in the sprinter Cool

Great day yesterday, spent a fortune, new leathers, kevlar jeans and a couple of t-shirts. Got some decent pics, but I wasn't committed to the camera, so only got a few.

Was mental busy for a qualifying day, but according to coverage today, there were 50k there today, so I imagine it was bedlam.

Thoughts go to Ben Gautrey's family and friends.

RIP Ben Sad

This happened right in front of me, the marshalls did the best they could with waved yellows, but the lads following had nowhere to go, it was horrific to watch. In some ways, i hope it was over quickly. details are sketchy at the moment some sources saying he didnt make it on scene and some stating he was touch and go in the medical centre and on the airlift to Hospital.
Either way i hope the young lad didnt suffer.
An excellent weekends racing, but i shall take a lot of difficult memories away from it with me.
We all here about these tragic accidents in the media but to see the impact first hand and in such (close-up) detail will stay with me, i know racing is dangerous and has its risks but my proximity to this will not subside without a good deal of time.
Like any other race fan if you see a crash in front of you, you almost feel privileged(probably not the pc context)when the rider gets up dusts off and walks away, youve had your "action" for want of a better word to differ from any other race day. this instance was different, it was immediately apparent that this was a "big-one" and he would be lucky to walk away without serious if not life threatening injuries. Unfortunately as we now know this was the case, apologies for my rambling, i guess its a way to deal with my hopefully never to be repeated experience and maybe get some thoughts off my mind.

RIP Ben, taken so soon, your up there with all the best racers now! Sad

I agree. Thankfully we had moved from the Mountain to the Gooseneck by the time it happened so my kids didn't see it. Watching somebody in that kind of accident leaves a scar whoever you are.

The section from the Hairpin to Hall Bends is a dangerous piece of track because you can't see what is happening ahead of you and if there is anything on the track you don't have the time or space to react. I used to marshall for New Era (Hall Bends) many years ago and during my time we had a couple of deaths. Both incidents stay with me to this day. One was a sidecar flipping and killing the passenger and the other similar to the one this weekend. All the staff will feel it deeply and my sympathies go out to everybody involved.
