Cheap motorbike boots or alternative

So, I've got my CBT next week and I only own trainers. Have heard from others on here that army boots are a cheap alternative to proper motorbike boots, like Magnums. Is this so?

I've worn British army issue assault boots on the bike for years. I reckon they give a good balance of protection and movement. They are also waterproof if kept well waxed/greased. I've never paid more than £25 for a brand new pair.

I reckon magnums are a bit lightweight with their nylon panels. Better than trainers though.

If you're going to get some, get them now, they'll be barely broken in before next week even if you wear them constantly.

Diora Hawks - sturdy, waterproof and cheap(ish). They last for years.

got some mil-com patrol boots from a local place for £30, they're pretty nice. Gonna head over to Hein Gericke tomorrow and try on some other gear, helmet, jacket, trousers and gloves, for when i've got my CBT next week. Then it's gonna be some serious looking around for a bike, seen some ybr's for around the £1000 mark.

I had an old pair of timberland boots to start off with but they were no longer waterproof, so i just got myself a pair of Karrimor Boulder boots in leather. seem to be waterproof so far and look pretty sturdy whilst still allowing some feeling through them.

not very expensive either when compared to motorbike boots and I can use them for hiking too!
