What are peoples thoughts so far then?

I bought it this morning, had a listen to it a couple of times and a couple of songs stand out to me but on the whole I am a little disappointed, although I feel it grow on me as did the adventures or rain dance maggie

I'm not sure what to think on Josh though, there isn't any amazing rifts or awesome solos, in fact with most of the album the bass and drums come through much stronger than the guitar.

anyway, discuss...

I went to see the live gig at the cinema tonight, Absolutely amazing, they're really on form and the new tracks sound great live.

Josh is like a younger John, admittedly never going to be the same but definetly the best man to fill the spot. It works really well.

I love the album personally. There are some great tracks on there. I dont really know why they chose the adventure of Raindance Maggie as the single as there are plenty of better tracks on the album.

Overall i'm really impressed and its good to see them back Thumbs Up

Not heard any of the new stuff.....consider me an old fart but Mother's Milk was truly awesome,Blood sugar sex magic was great and then they just kinda lost it and started wanting success and fame and the music became kinda poppy to me.

BSSM is the best album IMO.

My views have changed of this album now. Listened to it a few times today and I love it Laughing told you it would grow on me, and it didn't take long

Anthony Keidis looks like an AIDs patient with a bad tash.

Not gonna bother with the new album, as said, for me they lost it a long time ago and without Frusciante its not the same band.

Was going to watch that but they wanted £15! can't afford that at the moment so couldn't do it.

Agree Anthony isn't looking good and that tache doesn't help, but he is about 50 now isn't he? I would give it a listen though, no they aren't the same as they used to be and yes John will be missed but the music that they have isn't terrible

Nearly 50 but its no excuse, Metallica look good for their age, as does Bruce Dickinson. RHCP are trying to reinvent themselves as a quirky oddball band and for me it doesn't work, they have always been odd, seen as literally not one of their songs makes a lick of sense but somehow works, but since John left they seem to be trying too hard.

Though I do love that they've recruited Will Ferrel as their new drummer.

I know what you mean, and yes they have lost that touch, especially without john. I'm just thinking that they are past that and trying to look at them a bit differently.

And cov, if you haven't figured it out by now its red hot chili peppers. Not really that confusing if you were a fan...

I mean its not like theres no merchandise with their abv on it. Rolling Eyes

I havent heard their new CD yet. Should be getting it within the next few days. Not a fan of their single though. Its kind of growing on me but it just feels a little too poppy. Blood Sugar was my favourite albumn but I do like everything else (Apart from one hot minute which was fail).

Well, I listened to the Radio 1 live session bits yesterday, and if I am honest the new guitarist is dreadful, like trying to be a really bad Dave Navarro, horrible screechy guitar, same effect on the guitar over and over, sounded like a noob trying to shred after a week of learning.

Sorry Chillis, bad move there you need someone who can play guitar, he just destroys classics, Give it away was dreadful, I almost wanted to turn it off Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down

Used to like them, now I hate them. "Hate" is a strong word, on second thoughts, so perhaps it would be better to say that now they're as far under my radar as any other chart shite.

Saw them in about 2003/2004 (supported by James Brown and Chicks On Speed) at the Manchester City stadium and although their performance was very good I was instantly put off by just how fecking preachy they were between tracks.

Anyway, liked the earliest stuff, loved BSSM, liked Californication, was a bit Confused at By The Way and totally lost patience after that.

What show were they on? there are a couple on the iplayer with them yesterday, but none seem to be the live music...

Josh will never be as good as John but I guess we will have to live with that, and look forward to his solo work. Josh on the album isn't fantastic, and I haven't heard him live jamming with the band so can't comment on that.

On reading this I decided to 'acquire' the album. I've loved the chillis as long as I can remember liking music (admittedly this started from By The Way which I remember listening to in the car on the way to primary school).

For me this felt like everything Stadium Arcadium should have been but wasn't, obviously minus John.

It seems like a very similar overall vibe but it's a bit different. Stadium Arcadium just seemed like a shit tonne of samey songs churned out at high speed, it was OK but it certainly didn't take my breath away and i find it really hard to identify with such a long album.

I'm With You on the other hand takes that new sound that they took up with SA but adds to it, each song has it's own little sound and because it's a shorter album it feels more intimate and you can really get into it and pick out specific songs as well as enjoying the album as a whole.

Massive shame that John isn't still there with his epic backing vocals though!

The live gig on radio 1 yesterday was brilliant.

Yeah, everything but their awfuly dreadful guitarist, seriously sounded like a talentless wanker of the highest order, same effect over and over, same screechy out of tune, out of time guitar, his solo on Californication was dreadful, I didn't like him one bit, I hope they drop him, as Flea seems to be filling in a lot where his fail can't win, I would actually prefer Dave back and he was dreadful, shame as they seem to have gotten their funk back, although that said Radio1 I really am tiring of their new song quickly, stop fucking playing it, like 4-5 times in the evening Rolling Eyes
