I have seen various peoples licence plates, and along the bottom they have yellow stickers with slogans on 'eat my dirt' etc..

Does anyone know where I can get these from ?

(I have pm'ed marsbar too, just waiting for him to get back to me).

Cheers !!

Most bike shops will make you a plate up with the slogan of your choice on it, failing that M&P (08705 703030) will make you one, in regular or carbon finish, in 3 sizes with any slogan for 15 quid. Be advised however that anything across the bottom of a plate, with the exception of dealer details, is seen as naughty by the law.

Quote:
There shall be no other markings or material contained on the number plate.

I'm afraid so, but mines tiny (my plate smartarse Laughing ) so I can't see how a slogan's going to make any difference.

In the past I've toyed with the idea of printing thin labels from the computer. You can get clear sheets to print on ok with an inkjet. Then just stick onto the plate and if anyone questions it then it'll peel straight off.

This way it'd be like having your own set of signatures - change depending on who you're riding with or where you're going. Still not sure if it'd be 100% legal but cheaper and more fun than changing your plate.

The British Standard also requires that a number plate must be marked with the following information: -

The British Standard Number (currently BS AU 145d)
The name, trade mark, or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier. (The company who actually make the number plate.)
The name and postcode of the supplying outlet. (The 'supplying outlet' is taken to mean a company whose business consists wholly or partly of selling number plates.)
A non-reflective border and the Euro-symbol with the national identification letters are optional additions.
There shall be no other markings or material contained on the number plate.

To have a custom slogo on your plate your more than likely going to have a new plate made up (okay stickers fine, but most have a new plate) and if you have a new plate made it up it's more than likely going to be smaller than legal sized..

So even if the slogan isn't legal as such what does it really matter if the plate is smaller than legal sized in the first place...

Stickers can go on legal sized plates but I can't really see a copper being that much of a twat over a sticker Laughing should hope not anyway

Slogans are no more illegal than the garage a bike comes from putting a plate with their name and details on the bottom of it.

Rules for the display of number plates are set out in law, briefly these are: -

A number plate must be displayed at the front and rear of motor vehicles (with some exceptions).
Number Plates must be easy to read and meet the British Standard.
Lettering should be black on a white plate at the front and a yellow at the rear.
The background surface should be reflex-reflecting but the characters must not.
There are separate requirements for traditional number plates displayed on vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973.
Lettering and spacing must be of a set size. They must conform to one of the groups shown at:- Number plates fitted after 1 September 2001 or Number plates fitted before 1 September 2001.

Looks illegal to me. Garages are allowed to put their details on by virtue of being "a company whose business consists wholly or partly of selling number plates".

Do you think anyone really cares if there is a small sticker along the bottom of your number plate. As long as you can still read the plate whats the problem?

I would be very tempted to have my BCF Sig on the back:

How do you think colour would come out with the yellow numberplate backing?
