David Silver Spares?

WEMoto?

eBay?

Should be able to get one from one of the above, I'd have thought.

Look for parts on bikes with a similar engine? The Africa twin, transalp and deuville use the same engine just more cc.

As Chris said. Ring your local Honda place if you're struggling, just tell them what you're after and they'll have the part for you within a couple of days, usually.

If it really is impossible to obtain (the best suggestion so far is to find a secondhand one from one of the similar models), go to a local engineering place and ask how much to copy yours in alloy. It's a threaded cylinder with a stick poking out with a mark on the end.

If you're really stuck I will measure my Africa Twin's dipstick to see if it is the same as yours and you will have more choice at breakers.

I've enquired for quite a few parts from David Silver and never have they not had something. Often not listed on their website but you have to either email or phone then to get it.

I've just re-read your original post. One thing I noticed, are you sure it's the dipstick that's the only thing cross threaded?

Reason I ask is because, having cross-threaded a bolt before, I know from the experience that the bolt usually remains intact, but ends up re-cutting a bodged thread into what you were originally screwing it into.

Have you checked to see whether the casing that holds the thread for the dipstick is okay too?

Look in the classifieds. During the 'checking it over bit' you loosen the oil filler. Point up in the sky and say 'what's that?'
