After driving about 20 miles straight I feel like my triceps or lower shoulder muscle Is cramping In my right arm, It get's to the point where I can't even move my arm and stopping at junctions/roundabouts Is incredibly uncomfortable.

What Is causing the pain, i tend to put most of my weight on the handlebars, not sure If that's what's causing It.

Your gripping the bars too tight. Relax and do the funky chicken dance when your riding. If you cant do the funky chicken then you're holding on too tight and it will cause you cramps and what not.

Thumbs Up

Hmm, You're probably right but I don't feel like I'm gripping them to tight.

You probably dont but you might well be. (makes sense somewhere)

Also. Grip the tank with your knees and support your weight as much as you can with your lower back. Might break your back until the muscles strengthen up but you will get used to it. Thumbs Up

I've found a similar problem myself but in my left bicep, problem for me was bent bars. Dunno if it's because I've got that left arm pulled in slightly more or because I'm fighting the bike. Just thought it may be something similar as your only getting it in one arm. I'm sure someone more experienced'll give me a slap and tell me not to be so stupid but thats my two-penny's worth. Wink

Well, It doesn't effect the left arm because my hand Is more relaxed, i'm just resting my hand on the clutch, but the right I tend to strain my hand a bit which might lead to squeezing to hard on the handles I guess.

You've already diagnosed your problem - you're putting weight on the bars. I'm guilty of that myself, I do a rigid arm, sit up, cover-those-chair-legs-mother-they're-inflaming-me-passions position myself unless I make a conscious effort to relax, lean forwards and waggle my elbows every so often. You shouldn't need any weight on the bars unless you're anticipating a change of position.

It may be that you're gripping the throttle tightly as well. I'd recommend trying a "cramp buster" / "cruise control", which is just a plastic tab that grips the throttle and lets you hold it open by resting the palm of your hand on it. Worked wonders for my stubby fingers.

You are straining your muscles by gripping too tight. You won't know that you're doing it, but you are. I don't know how long you've been riding but if you don't do a lot of miles you'll not be building up your neck muscles either.

It should pass as you ride more although try some general flexibility exercises anyway.

After a gruelling day round hairpin bends, I developed a sharp pain in my shoulder and the physio guessed what I'd being doing before I even told her. Ibuprofen should help until you get used to it.
