I've finally managed to persuade my mum to allow me to get a bike...bit sad really...almost 22 and she wouldn't let me get one!

Anyway, I don't have a garage to keep it in, and I don't have access to the back garden with it. So, my only option is to keep it on the drive...which I'm a bit worried about.

Does anyone just leave theirs on the drive? I would get a lock though the wheels and what not, I would like to get something solid to lock it to, but mum has said no to that.

Its not a dodgy area really, but you never know!

Any advice would be great, and links to locks and what not!

Not sure what bike yet, most likely around £1500 to £2000...depending on what I like at the time. Insurance will most likely be fully comp. No solid objects, apart from cars...

As for a budget, maybe £200-£300...could always go higher if its worth it!

I have an almax chain and squire lock and a xena alarmed disklock. est 250 quid, i have a smaller chain and lock to carry about to lock the wheel to something, and i use my almax out aswell if deemed ... ? Thumbs Up

Got one fitted to the CBR, had people nosing around it trying to remove the chain. Pressed the emergency button, they effin legged it. Should really wire up the LED that comes with it Laughing

What if it happened at night? Or you were unaware of what's going on?

As soon as the bike moves, the alarm sounds.
I've just fitted one on mine. The remote 'warning' is just an added extra Wink

You could get a large plant pot and concrete a steel hoop into it, put some soil on top and bung some plants in it.

You've been told what you need to do. If you need help with either tit-punching, or gary-doing, shout out, but short of that, there's no answer to this question that doesn't involve you:

1) Moving out.
2) Telling mummy to get back in the kitchen and bake you a pie.

I sit mine on the drive, no way of putting an anchor is as it's a rented house. I have a Xena disc lock on it, and a large cable which is wrapped around my frame and locked to my other half's car (through the alloys). And for when she is away I have a manhole cover, which I will lock it to, I'd like to see someone carry that on the passenger seat! Middle Finger

I've never locked mine.

I sometimes remember to put the steering lock on though.

It'll be nicked tonight now saying that!

I'd best go and put the steering lock on Laughing

A "S.Y.L.O" sticker or a "Support your Local 81" dependent on where you live does no harm.

I've sort of made my own plant pot type, heavy duty angle iron threw the bottom half of a old plastic drum cemented in with other various bits of hardcore and soil and bedding plants on top. There's 3 bikes chained to it at the mo and I always make sure the car blocks the bike in too

It's only the wheel locked at the moment I'm working on frame clamps then the pot will be moved forward and locked to the clamp, it's work in progress not the finished article. What you can't see is the drive sloping towards the bike and a belled up car sat on the back wheel, to move the car get the bike unlocked and not get the dog barking would take a miracle.

I've had one bike go and I'll never be happy with the security I have, I can just make it more difficult for the scrotes....

Park side of it, get a pinch pin and chain through frame, poss pointless if you don't have a uncroppable chain. Idea
